Nash Bridges |
Get back Jojo! Here's what's on television for tonight, Saturday, November 27!
The Top Pick tonight is the pilot movie to the potential Nash Bridges revival series (USA, 9 p.m.). The movie reunites captain(?) Nash Bridges (Don Johnson) in the title role with his old partner, Joe Dominguez (Cheech Marin), who has left the police force. OG cast member Jeff Perry will also appear. It's been 20 years since the original series ended its run on CBS! CBS! CBS!
Elsewhere, the Beatles and Billy go to the rooftop, it's a Paranormal Christmas in Wellington, Elle has lots of Blade Runner memories, Food Wars decides a final bout, Friends Speak on Reelz, and Frankie Drake brings the flu pandemic to Toronto.
(All times are Eastern. All listings are new unless otherwise stated. For more listings, visit The Futon Critic or Zap2it.)
STREAMING & EARLY PRIMETIME
The Beatles: Get Back (Disney+, 3 a.m.): SERIES FINALE. The final five days of the 21-day recording session as the Beatles (plus Billy Preston) made Let It Be are covered in the finale of this loooooong documentary series. The runtime should be about 2-and-a-half hours, including the entire 42-minute rooftop concert. I think director Peter Jackson (still) needs a proper editor.✔️
Frankie Drake Mysteries (Ovation, 7 p.m.): Mary looks into a morality violation by Rita Hart's modern dance troupe. Frankie questions if they've brought the Spanish Flu to Toronto. This Rita Hart is not the Iowa politician of the 2010s.
π₯π Making Spirits Bright (Hallmark Channel, 6 p.m.): In this historical drama, the creation of the alcoholic beverages giant Spirits Bright is told. Founded by Charles "Char" Bright many years ago after the War of the Second Noel, the company played a pivotal role in helping Christmasia morale as it recovered from its years of war. During a 30-year-span, the company invested millions in several smaller communities that were on an uphill trajectory before being decimated by the war. Spirits Bright quickly grew and became a staple for spirits throughout the country, becoming a national icon.
Meet Your Makers Showdown (Discovery+, 3 a.m.): SERIES PREMIERE. "The country's top artisans test their ingenious creativity, unique skills and passion for their craft in a variety of mediums to win bragging rights and a $10,000 cash prize."
BRIEFLY: The Great Soul Food Cook-Off (Discovery+, 3 a.m.)
π 8 P.M. EASTERN / π 7 P.M. CENTRAL
π₯π Christmas at Castle Hart (Hallmark Channel, 8 p.m.): In another historical drama, Hart Meadows is one of the oldest cities on the continent. Many centuries ago during the Elvish Revival, it was a superpower city. However, upon Krampus' arrival, the town was claimed by his allies, the Dark Elves. It became Castle Hart when many of those elves questioned their allegiance to Krampus when he introduced Gremlins to the continent. Wanting a place of safety, the Dark Elves fortified the city and renamed it Castle Hart. For some it was rebellion, though the use of the term is still debated. These Dark Elves, the earliest descendants of the first Dark Elves, brought about what is called the Coal Elf Rebellion. Krampus attempted diplomacy but in the end, he crushed his critics. It was the first domino to fall in what would become the War of the First Noel.
π₯ Dirty Little Deeds (LMN, 8 p.m.): A woman becomes suspicious of her new husband after uncovering a deadly web of lies at his family's estate.
π₯π Merry Liddle Christmas Baby (Lifetime, 8 p.m.): "The Liddle family has much to be merry about this Christmas as Jacquie and Tyler prepare for the arrival of their first baby, while her sister, Treena, and her husband, Julian, are thinking about adoption."
πΊπ Robbie the Reindeer special (CBS, 8 p.m.): Time to bring out the vapid holiday specials! It's time for Robbie's specials Hooves of Fire and Legend of the Lost Tribe.
π₯π Royally Wrapped for Christmas (GAC Family, 8 p.m.): Lindsay, the director of an international charity org, is called to the Kingdom of Veronia by the royal family to interview for the job of overseeing the whole operation. During the interview process, she finds true love with the prince. Don't worry, she's white. She'll fit right in with royalty.
π₯π Soul Santa (BET, 8 p.m.): "A businessman disguises himself as a mall Santa to escape the mob."
π Wellington Paranormal (The CW, 8 p.m.): SPECIAL. "The cameras follow Minogue and O'Leary out on their Christmas Eve patrol as they respond to a number of call-outs."✔️

⭐π₯ Nash Bridges (USA, 9 p.m.): BACKDOOR PILOT. Revival! And in classic TV style, it's like a movie of the week. USA Saturday Night at the Movies. USA Movie of the Week. USA Mystery Movie. The Wonderful World of USA. "After being suspended by the Special Investigation Unit, Nash Bridges finds himself drawn back into the fold when a figure from his past resurfaces." If the movie is well received, a series will follow.✔️
πΊπ The Story of Santa Claus (CBS, 9 p.m.): A jolly couple comes to live at the North Pole and begins a toy-giving tradition in this mediocre '90s Christmas special.
This Weekend in Pop Culture (WOT&Pop Culture, 9:30 p.m.): What pop culture have you consumed lately? This is our weekly thread for you talk about it.
π 10 P.M. EASTERN / π 9 P.M. CENTRAL
πΊ S.W.A.T. (Decades, 10 p.m.): Spend the weekend the television's original special weapons and tactics team, a series that was a spinoff of The Rookies. It was short-lived. The current series has lasted more than twice as long. In this episode, a student protest is a cover for radicals to infiltrate a chemical plant and demand a million-dollar ransom. S.W.A.T. has only a short time to sneak in, rescue the hostages, and deactivate the programmed explosion.
π₯π Time for Them to Come Home for Christmas (Hallmark Movies & Mysteries, 10 p.m.): A POW flick finds a rag tag team of Christmasia soldiers deciding to bend the rules of combat a little in order to get their former commanding officer, Harry Bailey, and several other dozen soldiers out of a prisoner of war camp, located deep in enemy territory. They must move quick because their goal is to have them out by Christmas, aka Independence Day, and score a big moral boost for everyone. For one soldier it's very personal: Harry's brother George.
