Good morning! It's National Coming Out Day. I'm not holding my breath for anyone else to come out in sports today. But I'm happy to note that the sports world is much friendlier than I expected to see in my lifetime. Meanwhile football, baseball, more football, tires and PUPPIES.
The upset of the week in college ball is Texas A&M over undefeated (since 2019) Alabama. Texas A&M reenters the poll at 21 while Alabama drops from first to fifth. [Houston Chronicle] [Associated Press]
There's a full slate of MLB playoff games today. The White Sox stayed alive against the Astros while the Red Sox pulled ahead of the Rays. Who'd have thought we'd wind up with a Boston-Tampa Bay rivalry in two sports? Over on the National side of the bracket everyone is tied up with a game apiece. [CBS]
Mason Crosby, who almost never misses the uprights, sent an extra-point kick and three field goal attempts off to the left before finally connecting for a game winning 49 yard FG. There must have been some crazy wind because Evan McPherson also missed two attempts on his home field. [ESPN]
