What's On Tonight (Wednesday): White People, this is your last chance

Dear White People

TV is back, baby! Here's what's on television for tonight, Wednesday, September 22!

Despite the plethora of premieres across broadcast TV tonight, the Top Pick is a streaming finale. The continuing story of various Black students at a predominantly white ivy league school, Dear White People (Netflix, 3 a.m.) concludes its run with a fourth and final season. The TV show didn't always have the satirical bite the movie did, but from what I've watched, it is still really good.

Elsewhere, The Wonder Years tries not to sing out of key, Nine Perfect Strangers go their separate ways, The Goldbergs pay final tribute to George Segal, The Conners are live, Star Wars goes anime, Archer faces ghosts, we are One with Chicago again, Ken Burns finishes the story of Muhammad AliSurvivors gotta survive, wannabe singers get an avatar for an Alter Ego, and American Horror Story wraps the first Feature.

(All times are Eastern. All listings are new unless otherwise stated. For more listings, visit The Futon Critic or Zap2it.)

DAYSIDE ON THE SITE

πŸ€” Thoughts On: The Women of 1988 (8 a.m.): Bagdad Cafe

STREAMING & EARLY PRIMETIME

#1 Chicken (YouTube, noon): SERIES PREMIERE. I saw it described as Fear Factor for influencers.

Chip 'n' Dale: Park Life (Disney+, 3 a.m.): Chip and Dale play detectives in search of stolen artwork. Dale invites Clarice to dinner. Chip and Dale get into home improvement.

⭐ Dear White People (Netflix, 3 a.m.): SERIES FINALE. The group of friends are seniors and as school tradition has it, they put on a variety show. The TV show itself also leans into the form with musical numbers. I'd also suspect we will discover the full story of the secret society Order of X.

Doogie Kamealoha, M.D. (Disney+, 3 a.m.): Lahela takes the family car without permission after getting her driver's license and taking the advice of a local celebrity weatherman she's treating.

πŸŽ₯ Intrusion (Netflix, 3 a.m.): Freida Pinto moves to a small town with her husband, but is rattled when she is targeted for a home invasion.

Nine Perfect Strangers (Hulu, midnight): SERIES FINALE. It's time for everyone to cross the threshold and face their demons, including Masha. But... will they make it to other side?

🍽️ Occasional Cooks (What's On Tonight & Pop Culture, 7 p.m.): What have you been making in your kitchen lately? Want some inspiration? Check out our weekly food thread!

Star Wars: Visions (Disney+, 3 a.m.): SEASON ONE. Star Wars meets anime. A collection of animated Star Wars short films from six Japanese animation studios.✔️

Turner & Hooch (Disney+, 3 a.m.): When Erica's beloved dog Angel is taken, Scott, Xavier and Jessica must track her down.

What If...? (Disney+, 3 a.m.): What if Disney+ offered synopses and episode titles before an episode premiered.

Wu-Tang: An American Saga (Hulu, midnight): "Visionz"

Survivor (CBS, 8 p.m.): SEASON PREMIERE. 41 seasons in 21 years, and the final prize is still $1 million. CBS isn't keeping up with the rate of inflation. Rude.

The Wonder Years (ABC, 8:30 p.m.): SERIES PREMIERE. Don Cheadle is the narrator recalling his experiences growing up in Montgomery, Alabama, during the late 1960s. It takes place at the same time as the original series, but this time it is a Black perspective. And even farther in the past.✔️
