So, if I scheduled this article correctly, it will be released close to my birthday. I'm not much of a birthday person, don't really celebrate it or anything, but anything is a good excuse to come up with a topic for these articles! Sometimes musicians write birthday songs, whether it is for themselves, for someone, or for the general idea of trying to get in the royalty money that the estate of those sisters who wrote "Happy Birthday" is raking in. So, happy birthday to me, and let's get on with this!

Let's begin with this adorably fantastic The Killers track, which is dedicated to the Virgin of Guadalupe and her very very cumpleaños feliz. Gotta love when people who don't speak Spanish try and do so.
This great Lesley Gore song, about heartbreak in a birthday party, is actually based on the real birthday party of one of the songwriters' daughters, in where her big day was ruined by various events throughout.
Billy Joel wrote this song as a birthday present to his first wife. Even though it sounds very romantic and shit, remember he later remarried again, and again... but at least she got a birthday present he monetarily profited from? Winning?
I don't usually post Beatles songs as I'm not a fan, but here's one about a birthday, written during a birthday party, and which I'm sure got played at some point during anyone in the band's crew birthdays while on tour.
Let's close with the legendary Stevie Wonder, and his dedicatory track for Martin Luther King's birthday. The main inspiration for the writing and release of this song was to encourage creating a national holiday on King's birthday... which happened! So, whenever y'all lounge and relax during MLK Day, remember to thank Stevie and his birthday song.
What's your favorite birthday song? Do you have a song that gets sung to you when it's your birthday?
