Totally Tunes: Greetings, Las Vegas

It's been a while since we've last done a Totally Tunes about a specific part of the world, so what better way to go back to that than using the number one place for casinos, overpriced beverages, regrettable marriages, and just way too much desert? Yes, we're talking Vegas, baby! Let's bask in all that sun, neon buildings, and potentially shady events, and crank up the Wayne Newton within you!

It loses some pizzazz without the colors, doesn't it? Via Pexels

We're starting with INXS and this very catchy tune they released as the first single when they recruited JD Fortune as their lead. It's partially based on Fortune's very own experiences as an Elvis impersonator in Vegas, living in his car and trying to make ends meet as an aspiring artist.

Vegas native Brandon Flowers usually includes a lot of the city in his songs, but pretty much none more blatant than this track from his debut solo album. The album itself is also named after a Vegas staple.

HOW ABOUT SOME MEATLOAF?!?!?! Okay, sorry for the hype, but I mean, it's Meatloaf, how on earth y'all expect not to have some caps involved? Anyways, Jon Bon Jovi wrote this tune for him, which he polished a bit, and now you can enjoy the result:

Even though the song is more based on the idea of leaving your hometown (any hometown) to make it big, and potentially failing, Sheryl Crow and the team of writers chose to reframe it for Vegas alone, possibly because when you think about a city full of losses, Vegas is a close first.

And, for the closer, let's go with the most iconic Vegas tune, the one that hits every single damn branch on the stereotype tree on the way down, the one that really connects one iconic figure to the iconic city. Yes, we're talking about the Elvis Presley classic, which has been covered a bajillion times now and used for 4748573 Vegas-related adverts.

What's your favorite song about Las Vegas? Have you ever visited the city?
