You know how we've seen in the past weeks that winter and summer get a boatload of songs written about them? Well, shit ain't the same for autumn and spring. Musicians just don't like them, and you'd think that there's a LOT you can write with autumn leaves and all those pollen-triggering flowers everywhere, but alas. Of course, maybe it is because I'm not listening to the right music, who knows, but that's the whole point of this, I give you a topic and you feed it.

Let's start with my favorite Manics song, which casually they don't really like all that much! It feels super awkward to be a fan of a song the writers hate, doesn't it?
Let's scoot over to spring, and to this Vampire Weekend tune that uses the season as a metaphor for love dying and the like, because metaphors are the coolest and no one enjoys anything more than shitting over the actual seasons. The disrespect to actually celebrating flowers blossoming and shit!
When autumn is used on tunes, usually it's tied to the leaves, to represent the passage of time and moving forward, such as this Goo Goo Dolls track that's obviously the melancholic-est thing ever, but of course it has a message of hope (because this is not a winter song, remember that winter means abandon all hope ye who enters).
Let's continue with moody AF autumn, and because I feel I'm always putting some more modern tracks over the oldies things y'all usually post in the comments, here's something a bit older...
And, because I can't close without iconic songs, from the mind of Mel Brooks comes this tune that's having a laugh with a certain springtime moment for an infamous historical figure:
What's your favorite song about autumn and/or spring? Are you glad I'm not continuing with these articles about seasonal songs?
