Pose |
And the category is... Here's what's on television for tonight, Sunday, May 30!
Tonight's Top Pick is the penultimate episode of the masterpiece Pose, which follows several women of the NYC ballroom scene in the '80s and '90s — and created by Ryan Murphy. The time jump to this (surely not-originally-planned) final season took some creative liberties in placing some characters in better situations, especially mother Elektra. However, the stories being woven are still some of the best on TV. Last season was powerful with stories about the AIDS pandemic and being trans in 1990. I'll forever stand that Indya Moore, Mj Rodriguez, and Dominique Jackson all deserved Emmy nods.
Elsewhere, History takes us to 1921 Tulsa, Mare has her last chance to get her life together, Bo Burnham makes us laugh, PBS presents is annual Memorial Day concert, Chi starts a podcast, Witches has a baby shower, death comes for Death and Nightingales, Ziwe gets woke, Cooking Channel loves Snacks, and the Late Night options boom and start to diversify in the 2000s.

π₯ Gladiator (CBS Sunday Night Movies) (CBS, 8 p.m.): Former Roman General Russell Crowe sets out to exact vengeance against the corrupt emperor who murdered his family and sent him into slavery in this terrible movie that somehow won a best picture Oscar.
Luis Miguel: The Series (Netflix, 8 p.m.): SEASON FINALE. "Historia de amor."
National Memorial Day Concert (PBS, 8 p.m.): The 32nd anniversary broadcast of the annual concert honoring the men and women of the U.S. armed forces features a tribute to the nurses of Vietnam, the 70th anniversary of the Korean War, and the 20th anniversary of Sept. 11. Focusing on a specific period, from the birth of Black Wall Street to its catastrophic downfall over the course of two bloody days, and finally the fallout and reconstruction.✔️
Zoey's Extraordinary Playlist (E!, 8 p.m.): RERUN. E! is replaying the complete two seasons of this NBC show as the bosses sit on their hands about if it's worth a renewal (renew it you cowards!). This episode is the beautiful and emotional first season finale. Songs include "Bad Moon Rising," "Lullabye (Goodnight, My Angel)," "All of Me," and "American Pie." I love the show.✔️
QUICK HITS:
Biography (A&E): Mick Foley
5 MORE FOR THE RECORD: 90 Day FiancΓ©: Happily Ever After? (TLC); Johnny Cash: The Man in Black (Reelz, special); Naked & Afraid XL (Discovery Channel); Shahs of Sunset (Bravo); Weird Weather (Weather Channel)

Good Witch (Hallmark Channel, 9 p.m.): Cassie, Stephanie, and Abigail help Martha throw Claire a baby shower, sparking memories of Cassie's own baby shower.
In Treatment (HBO, 9 & 9:30 p.m.): Brooke agrees to refer Eladio to a psychiatrist before his medication runs out, but only if he truly commits to therapy first. Later, Colin chronicles the events that took him from "gold stars all around" to receiving serious demerits in prison.
The Story of Late Night (CNN, 9 p.m.): As the 2000s unfold, diverse voices like Chelsea Handler and George Lopez get their seat behind the late-night desk. Jon Stewart and Stephen Colbert take the news into their own hilarious hands. Given the emphasis this show has on David Letterman, I figure this episode, the penultimate, will end with his departure. The early/mid 2010s were a big shift in late night.✔️
5 MORE FOR THE RECORD: Fall River (Epix, series finale); Married to Medicine (Bravo); Signs of a Psychopath (Investigation Discovery, season premiere); Very Scary People (HLN); Wicked Tuna (National Geographic)
Black Monday (Showtime, 10 p.m.): Keith thinks he's the business-wiz. Meanwhile, Tiff and Corkie need to rebrand and refinance Pfaffashions, and Blair has a near-death sexperience and makes a new frienemesis.

Mare of Easttown (HBO, 10 p.m.): SERIES FINALE. When her investigation takes a series of devastating turns, Mare's friends and family members process the fallout as she attempts to finally find her own way forward. This show is sooooo good.✔️
⭐ Pose (FX, 10 p.m.): While the dust settles on their unforeseen life change, Papi adjusts to being a guardian, and Angel, who isn't ready to be a parent, seeks guidance from an unexpected source. The show is building to a wedding, and I'll let it slide since it is Angel's, a transwoman. Pray Tell is still trying to find peace in his final months, too. (Remember that terrible plot in season one with Evan Peters and Kate Mara?)
Snackmasters (Cooking Channel, 10 p.m.): SERIES PREMIERE. Chefs try to recreate classic snack foods in this Channel 4 import. In the premiere, it is a Kitkat.
United Shades of America (CNN, 10 p.m.): Kamau examines the military and how it is beset by the same destructive forces that keep the U.S. divided as a nation.
