Totally Tunes: Pumpkin and Candlelight

So, it was Halloween yesterday! Are you all full of candy right now, trying to read this as you fight the urges to devour even more candy and/or going to the store to pick up all the leftover, 50%-off sugary products remaining? I don't blame you, I'm a fan of this holiday because of the candy and the costumes. Music happens to be a fan as well, orienting a lot of tunes about sPoOkY events and general seasonal mischief.

Gonna begin with the song that gave this article its subtitle, a silly riff on the classic horror situations with lonely girls at home being hunted by eeeeeevil monsters with sharp blades. The lyrics aren't high art, but it's a tremendously fun tune.

Speaking of silly classic horror-related Halloween tunes, what about this timey-wimey melody specifically written because the singer could do a mean Boris Karloff impression? It's a big favorite of mine.

Also in the big favorites category, this McFly song happens to be about heartbreak, but because of the title and weird horror-y musical arrangement, people embraced it as a Halloween song. Eventually, the band did too, adding some sPoOkY elements to some live shows.

Being more straight-up about Halloween, though in a very dark and somber, extremely shady and depressing vibe is this Misfits song. The B-Side, Halloween II, includes lyrics in Latin, because of course it does.

If the previous tune brought you down, don't worry, I'm gonna close with the top Halloween anthem, courtesy of Jack Skellington and his crew of Halloween Town misfits:

What's your favorite song about Halloween/Halloween-like song? Do you play songs like these on October 31st?
