Heartbreak, how does it feel like? No, really, I have no clue, I've never been through that. I guess those are the perks of being a freewheelin' woman who doesn't want to get serious with anyone. Thankfully, for those love-aliens like moi, artists have written songs about heartbreak more often than not, and we can vicariously live through that pain, anger, and whatever else comes with the songs about break-ups. Win-win, amirite?

As usual, let's begin with the song that gives this article its subtitle, an absolutely gorgeous tune by The Fratellis written with all that melancholy and prose the band's lyrics are known for. It's hard for me not to cry whenever it comes up on the playlist.
Another track about a hopeless break-up that makes me cry like a baby is this The Streets tune, where the protagonist's girlfriend is just done with him and, even though he tries, what's broken can't be mend.
There wasn't a single tear-free emo back in the day with this My Chemical Romance song, complete with vErY sAd black and white video.
Let's make this place a happier one, because there can also be fun songs about nasty break-ups! Like Steve Martin here, describing the end of a very, absoutely toxic relationship and his plans to ruin the next one in a hilarious way.
And just because I'm currently in charge of writing this column and therefore I've become a dictator of sorts, subjecting y'all to pure torture, here you go, suffer:
What's your favorite song about a break-up? Which song/s accompanied you during a tough break-up?
