Totally Tunes: Ce Qu'elle a Dit, Ce Soir-là

So, even though I have strong French heritage, my handle on the language goes from "decent" to "Adele Dazeem". Hence why I have been always amazed by people who can speak French really well, especially in song. It's truly a beautiful language to sing in, especially if you're not butchering every word of it, because it gives the melody a je ne sais quois, y'know? And, thankfully for everyone, there's a lot of music out there with the French touch.

For example, in this really entertaining and catchy Eurovision song, the band mocks the usage of French words in music and the usual stereotypes of the country by English-speaking people, complete with an exaggerated accent and silly phrasing ("le fleur, le fleur, le fleur for you" is a favorite of mine).

Of course, there's also real French artists who sing songs in their native language, and you may have heard of them! If you're not well-versed in music, but you have watched blockbuster movies and Oscar hopefuls, this particular, iconic song may ring a bell:

If you're more of a TV person, you may recognize this particular artist from the show Crossing Lines (You didn't see that one? It lasted three seasons. Okay, only I watched it.). Give the man a whirl, he's a hoot, and I actually have the whole show this video came out from:

Of course, we sometimes don't have songs in full French and, just like the song referenced in today's article's title, it's just a sprinkle of the language here and there to sound fancy or whatever (le fleur, le fleur, le fleur for you...).

And what do you do when your grasp of the language is every bit as good as mine? Well...

Now's your turn! What's your favorite song in the French language, or with tinges of French here and there?
