What's On Tonight (Friday): "13 Reasons Why" Gets A 4th Season

Via Gifer

One time popular Netflix show "13 Reasons Why" is back with yet another batch of episodes. I remember the first season of this being quite popular with people, yet the show got ice cold in popularity with each successive season since then. I get that they can't all have the lasting impact of a Stranger Things or an Ozark, but wasn't this one also like critically acclaimed at one point as well??? Meanwhile Cinemax also has a new action show kicking off its run tonight. This is What's On for June 5th 2020

Streaming

13 Reasons Why Not (Netflix): Again once rather popular Netflix show premieres its 4th season--if i remember right (I never actually saw it so I could be off) it was about the reasons behind the suicide of a popular student at a high school (or was it that she was an attempted suicide???) either way there were a list of reasons--possibly even 13 of them! and it touched off a whole raft of problems for the various characters in this teenager's orbit--many of whom are apparently still dealing with problems! (Ok!)

The Last Days of American Crime (Netflix): New Movie starring Sharlto Copley, Michael Pitt, and Edgar Ramirez, and Anna Brewster about two men and a woman who plan the heist of the century before a government broadcast signal wipes out all crime forever. (What???) Directed by Oliver Megaton (Hey I Know That Name!!! He Directs Schlock that is sometimes fun!)

Queer Eye (Netflix): Volume 5 of the rebooted one time super popular Bravo series. (when was it originally on 2003? 2004?)

Dear....(Apple Plus): New docuseries from prolific emmy and peabody winning producer RJ Cutler is something that profiles an iconic pop cultural figure in depth for an hour via letters written to them by fans whose lives have been profoundly touched by their work. Said icons will include Oprah, Spike Lee, Stevie Wonder, Misty Copeland, Linn-Manuel Miranda, Gloria Steinem, Big Bird, and more. (ok!)

Living Abroad (Amazon): Docuseries (again!) this time about the experiences that various soccer players have in playing the sport that they love abroad where people might not know them as much as they would at home. Follows players from Manchester United

El Presidente (Amazon): Spanish language drama about the small town soccer club director in Chile becoming the new head of the Chile Soccer Association---Feeling drunk with power he becomes both the protege of the godfather of soccer Julio Grondona--and the FBI's key witness to undoing the largest corruption scandal in the sports world. (In the international sports world) Starring Andres Parra and Karla Souza (Aka Laurel from How To Get Away With Murder!)

(I never had the courage to do that, tho I thought about doing that once, largely thanks to the movie "Can't Hardly Wait")

Bearing Sea Gold (Discovery): Shift Happens (Ha I get it)

Air Bud (ESPN): I just wanna highlight the sheer absurdity of the sports network having to air this goofy Disney movie from the summer of 1997 about well you know what its about. (Hey Ain't No Rule In the Rulebook Says That ESPN Can't Air A Movie About A Dog That Plays Basketball!)

Road To Christmas (Hallmark): A producer's plan to reunite a family during the live broadcast of a Christmas special goes awry. (I'm guessing love is somehow involved???) Starring Jessy Schram, Chad Michael Murry, and the excellently named Rebecca Staab. (Stab With 2 A's??? I love it!)

9:00

Magnum PI (CBS): Rerun from October has mercenaries storming the estate to find the identity of the White Knight whom is a source of inspiration to Robin Masters (and possibly fictional); Rick and TC meanwhile try to help an employee at Rick's bar when his car is stolen. Trackers (Cinemax): New Action Show from South Africa---In Loxton South Africa, Lemmer embarks on a smuggling operation, the Presidential Bureau of Intelligence launches an investigation into a terrorist plot after a meeting between local Islamic extremists and Suleiman Daoud an Al Queda operative.  (Sounds like it could be a "Strike Back" spinoff tho its probably not)
Starring James Gracie, Ed Stoppard, and Brendan Daniels. (No I don't know who they are either)

11:00

Betty (HBO): This show about young female skateboarders comes to a close for its season with "Ladies On Fire"
