Yoooo, tonight we officially enter the "official" end of the 2019-2020 season. Even if technically everything more or less was already wrapped up thanks to production on all the shows having to shut down, but even if the pandemic hadn't affected regular television production, tonight would be the first night of the summer tv season, meaning from here on out, there really won't be a whole heck of a lot to note beyond reruns and filler--of both the reality kind and the scripted kind, but filler nonetheless. With that in mind, this is What's On for May 21st 2020
Streaming
The Good Fight (CBS ALL ACCESS)
Broadcast
Young Sheldon (CBS): Rerunning an episode from last month already, its the one where Sheldon learns that the house next door is for sale and is determined to try and find the perfect neighbor for it so that he doesn't get disturbed by whomever moves in. (This honestly sounds like a plotline you'd find on an episode of Frasier, so I'm kinda surprised its never been done on that show in all the years that show was on for!) (That show had 246 episodes and they never thought to do this idea before???)
Celebrity Escape Room (NBC): Jack Black hosts this new thing where various celebs try to escape from well an escape room which he presides over I'm gonna guess as the cluemaster??? (Welcome To Summer Kids!)
Who Wants To Be A Millionaire? (ABC): Dr. Phil picks up where he left off last week and we also have Kaitlin Olson (Sweet Dee herself!), and Lauren Lapkis playing tonight as well. (Knock 'em dead The Mick)
Celebrity Watch Party (FOX): More people watching other things. Why are we watching these people watch other things when we could be watching other things for ourselves??? (Because Reaction Videos are a thing on youtube apparently???)
Burden of Truth (The CW): This Kristin Kreuk led small town legal drama premieres its 3rd season tonight--making this the 3rd summer in a row that it has aired. (How? Who is watching this?!?!?) (I really shouldn't be asking that question, i watched all kinds of crap during the summer season i wouldn't the regular one) Anyways picking up where they left off "Joanna and Billy face a verdict in their first ever case in front of a jury; but when they return to Millwood for a high school reunion, an old friend from Joanna's past suffers a devastating loss that forces Joanna to face some long buried demons" (Long Buried Demons--What is this a "Ghoulies" sequel???)
Once Upon A Prince (Hallmark): Your Hallmark Channel Movie of the Evening is this one where "A young woman is shocked (SHOCKED I TELLS YA!!!) to discover that the handsome stranger she likes is actually a king. (SHOCKED!) Starring Lyona 5 and Pete Davidson. (No I'm kidding, could you imagine?) It actually stars Megan Park and Jonathan Keitz
8:30
Man With A Plan (CBS): When Adam and Andi enact their usual punishment to Teddy because of his usual bad grades, his unexpected reaction to the usual catches them both completely off guard and aren't sure how to react to his reaction. (The episode is called "Full Metal Teddy" which i initially took as a pun on Full Metal Jacket, but maybe they mean it literally and he gets heavily into metal--i mean he is a teen right?)
9:00
Mom (CBS): Rerun of the episode that brought Kathleen Turner back into our lives as she shows up here as the estranged Aunt Cookie to Kristen Johnson's Tammy--who re-enters Tammy's life because she is dying and needs a kidney and wants her niece to test to see if they'd be a match. Should Tammy do it despite decades of never having acknowledged her existence before??? Tune in and find out!
Red Nose Day Special (NBC): You thought Coronavirus meant that there wouldn't be a Red Nose Day this year??? (well yeah i mean if schools are closed down, how is there still a Red Nose Day??? this was a thing that schools did every year--i know this because my nephews school did a little revue/sketch show every year for this and now they're not because well they're not in school currently) (Awww now i'm actually sad, i actually liked their little sketch show!!! They did a Gilligan's Island parody one year where one of my nephews was Gilligan! He got to discover the existence of Gilligan's Island--that's the kind of stuff they should be learning in schools damnit!!!)
Holey Moley (ABC): This golf themed game show (semi game show?) returns for a 2nd season with host Rob Riggle. Tonight we got a contestant trying her hardest to literally jump the shark; we also have some fan favorite windmill wipeouts; as well as 2 zip line mishaps. (What is this America's Funniest Home Videos here???) (Welcome To Summer Kids!!!!)
Labor of Love (FOX): In what is very much an "Oh God Are They Really Doing This?" type of premise, Fox tonight premieres a new reality show in which its basically The Bachelorette but with the twist of her being pregnant. "Kristy is introduced to 15 men all of whom would like to be a dad" (Wait is she already pregnant or is this the kinda thing where she is hoping to get pregnant? Cause those are two very, very different things) (Also if its the latter, wouldn't that just make this exactly like The Bachelorette then???)
In The Dark (THE CW): Murphy and Felix juggle their personal extracurricular activities with the demands of drug dealing; Jess finds herself inextricably in Nia's crosshairs; Josh continues to seek out Murphy's help with his challenging new circumstances. (Is he newly blind or something?)
Restaurant Impossible (Food): Habanera and the Guerro is a restaurant that needs some fixin' up in Houston Texas.
Ghost Adventures (Travel): Demons in Seattle.
Heroes of the Sky (Nat Geo): The Mighty 8th Air Force were a newly formed squadron in the middle of World War 2 who provided some much needed help for the Allies and helped turn the tide of the war in our favor. (or something like that I dunno--its almost Memorial Day Weekend you know!)
We're Here (HBO): This week the drag queens helo out some citizens of the town of Ruston, Louisiana (nods)
Gomer Pyle (MeTV): Aunt Bee objects to Carter's attitude towards Gomer during a radio interview. (You shouldn't roll your eyes at someone when they say Shazam, its very rude) (How did you know I was rolling my eyes on the radio???) (I could hear 'em!) (Shazam!)
9:30
Broke (CBS): Top Pick of the night goes to this now cancelled sitcom that "opens wide for some soccer" When Jackie's angry outburst gets her banned from Sam's soccer game and the coach quits, Javier steps in to coach the team; Elizabeth meanwhile tries to teach Jackie mindfulness and encourages her to go and apologize. (Soccer Fever! Catch It! But Not With Your Hands!!!!) (Not as easy now!!!)
Green Acres (MeTV): A promotional campaign aimed at raising the profile of the simple rutabaga goes wrong. (How could it possibly go wrong???)
10:00
SWAT (CBS): Now officially taking back its old Thursday at 10 spot for the summer (I'd assume) this show continues rerunning its season's worth of episodes with its 3rd episode of the season about the SWAT team trying to find a counterfeiting gang. (Well why wouldn't they?) (Because is that really the kind of thing that requires the kinds of things that a SWAT team does???) (In this case, apparently so)
To Tell the Truth (ABC): Season Five of this game show premieres tonight with tonight's panel of guests including Deion Sanders, Shannon Sharpe, Joel McHale, and Gillian Jacobs. (Do you think she'll "Britta" her appearance on the game show???)
Top Chef (Bravo): Episode 10! (10!!!) of the current season airs. (TEN!!!!)
Siren (Freeform): Tia unleashes a deadly attack on Brostol Cove; Ryn, Ben, and Maddie all race against time to find a deadly cure for Xander's mysterious illness; While anticipating Tia's next move, Baby Hope returns to land to reconnect with Ryn. (Baby Hope Doo Doo Doo Doo Doo Do-Doo Baby Hope...)
Opening Night (Food): "The Cook and Gable" an Italian-German-Irish restaurant in Detroit opens for business. (Not bad! Not bad! I bet the sausage variety there is excellent, one would assume right?)
Portals To Hell (Travel): The Croke Patterson Mansion in Denver is visited tonight. Will there be ghosts? Are there ever? (Yes Matthew, yes there are!) (Oh all right then, I stand corrected)
Impractical Jokers (Tru Tv): This HockeyMike favorite might, MIGHT, be back tonight with new episodes---I'm not sure, but it was listed as being new--but there was no episode synopsis, so we'll see! We will see!
11:00
Vagrant Queen (SYFY): The crew finds themselves in the middle of a very strange murder mystery in an episode titled "No Clue" (Ha!)
THAT'S ALL I GOT FOR NOW...GO OUT THERE AND HAVE ONE HECK OF A THURSDAY GANG! ONE HECK OF A THURSDAY, YES INDEED.
