What's On Tonight (Sunday): Let's all go to the movies

CBS Sunday Night Movies (via Giphy)
Hello and welcome to another Sunday edition of What's On Tonight. The Top Pick tonight goes to the revival of the CBS Sunday Movie. It's been nearly 14 years since CBS repeated its movie Saving Millie, which was also the last movie to air under a regularly-scheduled Sunday movie banner on a broadcast network, ending a 42-year TV staple. For the Eye, Sundays were usually a night of made-for-TV movies rather than big screen premieres, but in its revival, the network airs several classic movies, kicking it off with Raiders of the Lost Ark. However, unlike NBCUniversal's family movie night, there will be plenty of commercials. Elsewhere, it's the end of the line for Zoey and her musical visions, the bad Good Girls, the Beef House residents, and the three Debras. HBO's docuseries Atlanta's Missing and Murdered also wraps. However, it is a new start for the witches and residents of Middleton, the Billions gang, and rapper who run a Chinese restaurant in Canada. Oh, and the 4077th. To most people, I am an assistant at CatCo Worldwide Media. But in secret, I work to tell you here's what's on television for tonight, Sunday, May 3!

STREAMING / EARLY PRIMETIME

A Moving Romance πŸŽ₯ (UPtv, 7 p.m.): Olivia inherits her family’s moving company and immediately butts heads with manager Scott, who thought he was being groomed to take over.

60 Minutes (CBS, 7 p.m.): Tonight, stories cover: finding a job in America during the coronavirus pandemic, farmers affected by the pandemic shutdown and trade war tariffs, and health care providers in rural areas of Texas warn if COVID-19 gets worse, the system will be overwhelmed.

Atlanta's Missing and Murdered (HBO, 7:45 p.m.): FINALE. In the mid-1980s, Wayne Williams' appeals attorney receives shocking new evidence connecting members of the Klan to the murders. An undercover informant and several investigators take the stand as a judge evaluates Williams' plea for a retrial.

Doctor Who πŸ“Ί (Retro TV, 6 p.m.): In "Death to the Daleks," the Daleks and a human expedition both arrive on the planet Exxilon to seek a mineral found in abundance there. I like this serial.✔️

M*A*S*H πŸ“Ί (MeTV, 7:30 p.m.): Series premiere! To raise money to send his Korean houseboy to medical school, Hawkeye raffles off a weekend in Tokyo with a nurse.

Mayberry, R.F.D. πŸ“Ί (MeTV, 6:30 p.m.): In the series premiere of this average sitcom and Andy Griffith continuation, Andy and Helen marry and leave Mayberry, so Aunt Bee becomes Sam's housekeeper.

FOR THE RECORD: America's Funniest Home Videos (ABC, 7 p.m.); Deadly Cults (Oxygen, 7 p.m.); Little Big Shots (NBC, 7 p.m.); Rugal (Netflix, 3 a.m.); Snapped (Oxygen, 6 p.m.)
Doctor Who, "Death to the Daleks" (via Tumblr)

πŸ•— EASTERN / πŸ•– CENTRAL

Batwoman (The CW, 8 p.m.): Batwoman enlists Luke and Julia for an undercover mission to recover one of the most important items from her cousin's arsenal. Jacob Kane visits Alice. Mary tries to prove herself to Kate. She's worthy, Kate!

⭐ CBS Sunday Night Movies: Raiders of the Lost Ark πŸŽ₯ (CBS, 8 p.m.): After a 14-year absence, a regularly-scheduled* Sunday movie nights are back on a big broadcast network. And now they are in high-definition, so not as modified to fit your screen. However, commercials are still a thing -- expect about 40 minutes worth. (A Man With the Plan rerun is tacked on the end of the night). To kick off the month-long programming, we have the quintessential 1981 adventure flick Raiders of the Lost Ark. Coming up later this month are: Forrest Gump, Mission: Impossible, Titanic, and Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade. I am so hoping CBS brings back a short title sequence for the night. (*Because NBC's occasional movie airings in the winter and ABC's infrequent ABC Sunday Movie of the Week are not regular and therefore don't count.)✔️

Call the Midwife (PBS, 8 p.m.): Fred attempts to reinstate the Poplar Horticulture Show. The Turners receive alarming news about their daughter. Valerie's pregnant cousin hopes her baby is born before her due date.

Columbo πŸ“Ί (MeTV, 8 p.m.): Gadget-happy inventor Oskar Werner murders his mother-in-law.

Psycho Escort πŸŽ₯ (Lifetime, 8 p.m.): Finally, a movie we can all relate to!

Raven's Home (Disney Channel, 8 p.m.): Booker, Nia and Tess team up to win the end-of-the-year eighth-grade treasure hunt in hopes they can become Carver Middle School "legends"; Raven and Chelsea land a segment to promote their business on Chris Spring-Lake's new reality makeover show.

The Simpsons (Fox, 8 p.m.): In Michigan, Reverend Lovejoy uncovers the reason why Bode left and came to Springfield. When the congregation learns of his crime, they must decide whether to banish him.

Star Wars: Episode II – Attack of the Clones πŸŽ₯ (TBS, 8:30 p.m.): I sorta like this movie. It's certainly not as bad as The Phantom Menace, The Last Jedi, and The Rise of Skywalker.

Vice (Showtime, 8 p.m.): The border between Brazil, Paraguay, and Argentina (Whizzy!) is a lawless place where criminal gangs are more powerful than nation-states. TikTok is changing to become a place for thoughtful dialogue.

The Last Dance (ESPN, 9 p.m.): As Michael Jordan's fame peaked from NBA titles and the Olympic Dream Team, his image as "Air Jordan" made him a profoundly significant cultural figure. Later, Jordan came under scrutiny in 1993 with question marks about Jordan's gambling.
