Hello everybody! Tonight the NBC Lineup bids adieu for the season as all 4 of their shows are both new and ending their respective seasons tonight (with the exception of Superstore which looks to be part 1 of 2 although who knows if Part 2 even got completed at this point)....This is What's On for April 23rd 2020
Streaming:
(No new episode of The Good Fight this week for some mysterious reason!)
Ghost In The Shell SAC_2045 (Netflix): New series version of the anime Ghost In the Shell for some reason. If you all liked the original Ghost in the Shell films (the original anime films and not the live action Scarlett Johansson remake from a couple years back that is)---I guess that's as good a reason as any to check this one out??? "After a global financial crisis, the world is engulfed in A.I. driven war and its up to Section 9 to ferret out new forms of cyber threat" (Hey that sounds just like CSI: Cyber!)
Broadcast:
Young Sheldon (CBS): Rerun of that one time Sheldon accused Dr. Sturgis of plagarism and he is predictably upset by these charges. (why would you do that to your mentor there Sheldon???)
Superstore (NBC): After Mateo and Cheyenne disagree on how to celebrate her 21st birthday (huh i knew she was young, but i didn't know she was that young!); Cheyenne enlists Bo's help; Glenn plays matchmaker to help Jerry and Sandra complete their family (so surrogacy???); Dina tries to jelp Jonah keep a big secret from Amy. (That's not gonna end well I bet!) (The episode is titled "California Part 1" which leads me to believe that there's gonna be a California Part 2 at some point!)
Last Man Standing (FOX): When Kyle and Mandy individually reveal a secret to both Mike and Vanessa respectively, they are sworn not to tell the other their secret (Classic Sitcom Plotline!); Ryan invites Mike to be a guest on his podcast. (Really??? Why???)
2020 NFL Draft (ABC): The NFL announces its new recruits for their respective franchise teams--will they all stay 6 feet apart while doing so??? (also you know the whole "Will there even be a 2020 season?" thing kinda hangs in the air there) (Also you know when i first read the listing i initially thought it was an episode of 20/20 for some reason doing a special about the NFL Draft)
Katy Keene (The CW): Katy tries to get to the bottom of an allegation against Gloria; (Glooorrrrr-iiiaaaa); Josie and the New Pussycats have a falling out (awww); Jorge offers Bernard an interesting relationship proposition to avoid losing him; Pepper's past is started to catch up with her. (Nods) (Try saying Pepper's Past 5 times fast!)
Love and Sunshine (Hallmark Channel): Your Hallmark Channel Movie of the Night is this one where "Sparks fly when a retired military dog's former handler returns to claim it from a foster home" Staring Danica McKellar and Mark Deklein (That can't possibly be his real name can it???)
8:30
Man With A Plan (CBS): Adam encourages Don to give himself food poisoning to get out of babysitting his destructive grandson (awwww, I can actually relate to this, my older nephew when he was younger was "Mr. Destructo!" but i always loved hanging out with him!); Adam and Andi argue over who has to take Katie and her fellow teenage friends out shopping. ("Hello Fellow Teens!")
Brooklyn Nine-Nine (NBC): Season Finale of this venerable sitcom (ending its 7th season tonight) with "The entire squad is on high alert when a massive blackout hits Brooklyn" (This show will most certainly be back for an 8th season right??? I mean it feels like it barely got much of a 7th season since it only came back like three months ago--although apparently they managed to squeeze in 13 episodes this season so good on them for managing to get in that many!)
9:00
Mom (CBS): Rerun of the time Christy accidentally hit a parked car and rather than leave a note decided to leave the scene, then feels guilty about it and goes back to try and make amends but of course that doesn't go well at all. (Ahhh good ol' reliable guilt); Meanwhile Bonnie and her therapist (Rainn Wilson) try to get at some ways to better communicate with her husband.
Will and Grace (NBC): This long running sitcom (Started Fall of '98! You know what else started that fall? King of Queens and Becker as well!) says "Good Night Gracie" for the 2nd time (They originally said Good Night Gracie in May of 2006 only to get rebooted in Sept of '17) Anyways after 11 seasons, this show says good-bye yet again (for now...) with "Will is determined to not reminisce about his life in the city upon leaving it for greener pastures; Grace has false alarms of going into labor; Karen attempts to get some sort of closure with her ex husband Stan (why???); and Jack's long time dream of being in the cast of a show running on Broadway (any show running on Broadway) suddenly becomes a very real possibility." (I gotta admit that i always liked this show even in its bad patches, it was still often very solid sicommery--was it often flamboyant and over the top? Yes, but did the writers and actors also try and take care of its characters to try and make them seem like actual people and not just caricatures over the years even tho they sometimes leaned into the caricature at times??? Yes for the most part--I'd say so) Au Revoir Will and Grace...Au Revoir!
Mental Samurai (FOX): Rerun
In The Dark (The CW): Murphy gets a surprise visit; Felix, Jessi, and Murphy work on a plan to cover up their new business; Darnell's visit to Nia takes an unexpected turn (Darnell's still around?!?!?? Why did i think he got killed off last season???); and Dean gets a new mission (Dean's Still Around?!?!?!?) (The episode is titled "Cross My Heart and Hope To Lie"---I would've gone with "Cross My Heart And Hope To Eat Some Pie" but that's just me)
We're Here (HBO): New drag queen documentary series follows Bob the Drag Queen, Eureka Queen, and Shangela Laquifa Wadley across the country as they try and help drag queens be themselves or something. Tonight they arrive in Gettysburg PA to help some locals put on a one night only drag queen show. (nods) "You Go Girl!" (Its still the 90s somewhere right?)
Great Food Truck Race (Food): This show season finales tonight. (Who Will Win??? Its not a competitive show is it?) \
Ghost Adventures (Travel): 120 year old building in Salt Lake City is investigated for ghosts.
Naked and Afraid--Pop Up Edition (Discovery): It turns out that Jasoo was right and that this show isn't actually back with new episodes after thinking it was last week, these are just spiffed up reruns that are being labeled as new thanks to new "pop ups" (Is Pop Up Video still a thing?!?!?!?)
9:30
Broke (CBS): Jakie and Liz are scandalized when they find their mom's secret love letters may suggest that she was in fact having an affair (Ruh-Roh); Javier taken an unexpected job as a painter. (Will this lead to painting mishaps??? Tune in and find out CBS! CBS! CBS!)
Will and Grace Clip Show--A Will and Graceful Goodbye (NBC): "A Will and Graceful Goodbye?!?!?!?"
10:00
Tommy (CBS): The titular character is accused of professional impropriety when her relationship with sports agent Kiley Mills intersects with the LAPD's arrest of a local sports phenom found possessing an illegal firearm. (D'oh!) (Also Tommy Can You Hear Me???? Can You Feel Me CBS You??? Whoa--oh-ohh Tommy...)
Law and Order Special Victims Unit (NBC): This venerable show also closes out its season for the night (Its 21st Season!) with "As Carisi begins the long anticipated trial of Sir Toby Moore, the SVU faces setbacks in several other cases" (I'm a little behind on my SVU watching but Sir Toby Moore was the Harvey Weinstein surrogate played by Ian McShane at the beginning of the season right?)
Better Things (FX): Sam throws Frankie a Batcenera. (whatever that is--i guess we'll find out!) (Also speaking of shows I gotta catch up on at some point--i havn't seen a single one so far this season--so i guess i'll binge them all on demand at some point soon?)
Tacoma FD (Tru TV): Eddie Penisi Sr shows up at the station unannounced; Eddie and Terry vie for his approval while the rest of the gang embraces their inner nerd playing Dungeons and Dragons to win the acceptance of their own illustrious dungeon master. (oooook)
Siren (Freeform): Ryn returns to land to explore human motherhood (Vhat Is This Hoo Mon Motherhood You Speak Of???); Maddie and Robb meanwhile come across a gruesome discovery; and Ben experiences mysterious side effects while Ted confronts Helen. (I think my favorite of these plotlines is Ted confronting Helen although i have zero context for why he's confronting her!)
The Dead Files (Travel):
11:00
Vagrant Queen (Syfy): Moving back a night from Fridays where it had previously been airing, this Canadian syfy import resumes its season now on Thursdays at 11 o'clock. (Right smack after primetime) Tonight "A stealth mission thru the Republic border becomes a fight for survival as Lazaro closes in" (Noooo Not Lazaro!!!!) (I don't know who Lazaro is to be honest--i'm guessing he's a bad guy???)
THAT'S IT ON MY END FOR TONIGHT---REMEMBER TO PLEASE TIP YOUR WAITSTAFF!!!
