What's On Tonight (Sunday): There's a scandal in Belgravia

Belgravia (via Giphy)
Happy Easter! And speaking of the dead rising, tonight's Top Pick is the latest Walking zombie series... er, umm, nevermind. Last weekend was a little Brit-heavy and tonight is no different. A James Bond collector is profiled, a spinoff of The Missing premieres, the midwives have a fashion show, World on Fire continues, and co-production Killing Eve is back. But the Top Pick goes to Downton Abbey creator Julian Fellowes' latest period drama Belgravia. Despite the promos, the love stories are secondary. The story opens at a party on the eve of the Battle of Waterloo and then jumps 25 years later. Two women try to keep their family secrets that began 25 years earlier and protecting their societal standing and inheritances. Elsewhere, Issa Dee returns, a Lifetime movie questions faith, old flames Merritt Wever and Domhnall Gleeson Run together, a Comedy Central doc dissects stand-up comedy, Tiger King gets an aftershow, Willie Nelson gets the musical spotlight, and the IMF must stop Nazis. Up your nose with a rubber hose, here's what's on television for tonight, Sunday, April 12!

EARLY PRIMETIME

60 Minutes (CBS, 7 p.m.): Tonight's stories cover: the short supply of protective gear nurses and doctors need to prevent their own infection with COVID-19, how people are coping with anxiety, sadness and grief in the face of a pandemic, and the rebuilding of the Greek Orthodox Church of St. Nicholas.

Catching a Serial Killer: Sam Little (Oxygen, 7 p.m.): SPECIAL. Investigative journalist Beth Karas follows Sam Little, a prolific U.S. serial killer who confessed to murdering more than 90 women in 17 states, in hopes of figuring out how he got away with murder for so long.

Doctor Who πŸ“Ί (Retro TV, 6 p.m.): Omega, creator of the experiments that allowed the Time Lords to travel in time, seeks revenge after he was left for dead in a universe made of antimatter. The Time Lords call on the First Doctor, the Second Doctor, and the Third Doctor for help. Too bad Jamie was unable to return.

In-Lawfully Yours πŸŽ₯ (UPtv, 7 p.m.): A fun-loving woman from New York City moves to a small town to help her recently widowed ex mother-in-law. Her personality clashes with the locals, and when she goes public with her new relationship with the pastor, the town rallies to kick her out.

Jesus Christ Superstar Live in Concert (NBC, 7 p.m.): RERUN. This 2018 Emmy-winning live musical that completed EGOTs for John Legend, Andrew Lloyd Webber, and Tim Rice is replayed if that is your thing. I include this despite believing nothing ALW has done is noteworthy.✔️

Tiger King: Murder, Mayhem and Madness (Netflix, 3 a.m.): I almost planned on this for Top Pick, then I kept reading that this new episode is an aftershow, hosted by Joel McHale. Nope.

War of the Worlds πŸ“Ί (Heroes & Icons, 7 p.m.): The aliens have produced a deadly toxin, and a miraculous new development to feed the world becomes their means of mass poisoning

FOR THE RECORD: Rugal (Netflix, 3 a.m.); Snapped (Oxygen, 6 p.m.)
Jesus Christ Superstar Live in Concert (via Giphy)

πŸ•— EASTERN / πŸ•– CENTRAL

Atlanta's Missing and Murdered (HBO, 8 p.m.): As distrust in the police and city officials deepens, citizens take matters into their own hands. The FBI is called to step in. Conspiracy theories take root, and talent scout Wayne Williams may have been recruiting some of the victims.

Best of Farm Aid 2019 (AXS TV, 8 p.m.): SPECIAL. The best performances of 2019 Fair Aid including Willie Nelson, John Mellencamp, Neil Young, Dave Matthews, Nathaniel Rateliff and the Night Sweats, Margo Price and Promise of the Real, and Jamey Johnson.

Biography (A&E, 8 p.m.): SPECIAL. Back in my day, Biography was on A&E every weeknight at 8 p.m. I always debated watching it or Wild Discovery on the Discovery Channel. Then Nick-at-Nite started afterward. Nowadays, a Biography isn't so common on basic cable. And this special episode chronicles Dolly Parton. Because, I guess, you can never have too many bios about her.

Call the Midwife (PBS, 8 p.m.): Lucille is seconded to St. Cuthbert's where she delivers a baby in an elevator. Nurse Crane gives vaccines to new students. Violet, Trixie, Sister Frances, and Valerie organize a fashion show for the community. Midwife Runway! Christian would lose his mind with these nurses.

Columbo πŸ“Ί (MeTV, 8 p.m.): "Motivation research specialist" Robert Culp uses subliminal cues to commit a murder. Lt. Columbo is on the case.

Dead Sea Scrolls: The Doomsday Prophecy (Science, 8 p.m.): SPECIAL. New research on the Dead Sea Scrolls about what they say about the battle between Jews and the Roman Empire and maybe... a doomsday prophecy?

Dwight in Shining Armor (BYUtv, 8:30 p.m.): Dwight and Gretta attend a medieval trial. Hexela and Baldric fall into a witch's trap. Will Dwight and Gretta kiss already!!

God Friended Me (CBS, 8 p.m.): Miles, Cara, and Rakesh try to stay a step ahead of a bounty hunter who's searching for Miles' new friend suggestion. Rakesh plans to hack a powerful government super computer that can break through the God account's firewall. The government is more powerful than God is not the kind of Easter message I expected from CBS.

Outlander (Starz, 8 p.m.): The Frasers must come to terms with all that has changed in the aftermath of the Battle of Alamance Creek. Brianna tries to help Roger overcome the trauma he has endured.

Question of Faith πŸŽ₯ (Lifetime, 8 p.m.): A careless teen driver, a 12-year-old boy and a young singer find themselves facing serious life crises. As their respective parents begin to question their faith, a chain of events unknowingly brings all three families together in unexpected ways.

Stalker in the Attic πŸŽ₯ (Lifetime Movie Network, 8 p.m.): Strange events plague a single mother after she breaks up with her live-in boyfriend. As she struggles to adjust, she soon begins to wonder if he was her protector -- or something far more sinister.

Vice (Showtime, 8 p.m.): First is Battle for Idlib in Syria and then "Seeking Solitude," which I don't know specifics.

When Calls the Heart (Hallmark Channel, 8 p.m.): A dangerous windstorm puts Hope Valley at risk. Elizabeth takes half the class on a field trip while Carson is the substitute teacher for the rest. Jesse causes concern.

FOR THE RECORD: 90 Day FiancΓ© (TLC); American Idol (ABC); The Aquarium (Animal Planet); The Lake Erie Murders (Investigation Discovery); Naked & Afraid (Discovery Channel); The Real Housewives of Atlanta (Bravo); Spy Wars with Damian Lewis (Smithsonian Channel)
Killing Eve (via Giphy)

πŸ•˜ EASTERN / πŸ•— CENTRAL

⭐ Belgravia (Epix, 9 p.m.): SERIES PREMIERE. In Julian Fellowes new period drama, the Duchess of Richmond's infamous ball on the eve of Waterloo sparks a devastating love affair between the daughter of the Trenchards and the son of the Brockenhursts. When they meet again 25 years later in Belgravia, their lives are still reeling and their names are under threat. The series stars veterans performers Tamsin Greig and Harriet Walter and includes Tom Wilkinson, Philip Glenister, and Alice Eve.I hope the theme song is "Waterloo." Waterloo couldn't escape if I wanted to / Waterloo knowing my fate is to be with you✔️

The Birds πŸŽ₯ (Sundance TV, 9 p.m.): Hitchcock's horror masterpiece that has made me hesitant of large birds groups since I was in elementary school. I had to walk under a massive murder of crows at college once and I was TERRIFIED for about two minutes of my life. I walked really, really, really quickly.

Collector's Call (MeTV, 9:30 p.m.): Doug Redenius amassed a pre-eminent James Bond memorabilia collection until he sold a lot of it a few years ago. However, he still owns many of the vehicles featured in the movies, including the helicopter from From Russia, With Love and the Q-Boat from The World Is Not Enough.

Homeland (Showtime, 9 p.m.): "No one admits to anything." The pen is blue, Saul! Blue!

Killing Eve (AMC/BBC America, 9 p.m.): PREMIERE. Well... that finale looked like it was finally gonna be the end of Eve... but not yet! After being shot by Villanelle, Eve is attempting to rebuild her life. Villanelle is also moving on, until she is approached by an old foe. Meanwhile, Carolyn is being undermined at work, and Kenny can't leave his own investigation into The Twelve alone. Is the show as brilliant as that first season? No. But I still find it fine entertainment and better than a majority of tonight's other offerings. Jodie Comer and Sandra Oh are a treasure.✔️

NCIS: Los Angeles (CBS, 9 p.m.): The team assists the DOJ in the investigation of an arsonist who targets an FBI safe house that's protecting a political activist seeking asylum. Eric deals with the aftermath of Nell leaving the team.

Raw Terror (Investigation Discovery, 9 p.m.): SERIES PREMIERE. Probably a murder docuseries of some sort, like there's any other kind. "Valerie Tieman goes missing and her parents Allen and Sarajean begin to worry. Valerie's body is later found buried in the woods behind the home she shares with her husband, Luc."

Roseanne πŸ“Ί (Cozi TV, 9 p.m.): "A Stash from the Past," the best episode of the hit '90s sitcom. Dan is furious when a bag of pot is found in David's room. However, when it is discovered it's leftover from Dan and Roseanne's younger days, they go for a trip that isn't at all like it used to be.

Westworld (HBO, 9 p.m.): "Just saying no." Not insightful, HBO.

World on Fire (PBS, 9 p.m.): A month after the war begins, Warsaw, Poland, is left in ruins. Having been rushed out of Poland, Harry longs for news. Kasia, his semi-secret lover in Warsaw, joins the Polish resistance.

FOR THE RECORD: Barnyard Builders (DIY); Buddy vs. Duff (Food Network); Dateline NBC (NBC, 9:30 p.m.); Family Karma (Bravo); House in a Hurry (HGTV); Paranormal Caught on Camera (Travel Channel); Secrets of the Zoo (Nat Geo Wild); Wicked Tuna (National Geographic); World of Weapons (Smithsonian Channel)

πŸ•™ EASTERN / πŸ•˜ CENTRAL

Baptiste (PBS, 10 p.m.): SERIES PREMIERE. This follow-up/spinoff of The Missing (crap, I still haven't watch the second series of that one) follows Julien Baptiste (TchΓ©ky Karyo) while on holiday in Amsterdam with his wife, and he assists in an investigation for his former girlfriend, the Amsterdam Chief of Police. He will probably run into trouble with Tom Hollander, uncle of the missing girl.✔️

Black Monday (Showtime, 10 p.m.): A new client presents a moral quandary for Dawn. Mo, Blair, and Keith chase down leads while Tiff has an identity crisis.

ID Breaking Now: Harvey Weinstein (Investigation Discovery, 10 p.m.): SPECIAL. "Harvey Weinstein can't silence the women he raped, assaulted, threatened, bullied, and spied on."

Insecure (HBO, 10 p.m.): PREMIERE. Issa is back!! And she is continuing her new life direction. With Condola's guidance, Issa prepares for a mixer in her courtyard to pitch the block party to potential sponsors, but tensions arise when they discover a mutual connection. Molly begins to develop unexpected feelings for Andrew.

The Johnny Cash Show πŸ“Ί (getTV, 10 p.m.): Hey hey! First, it's back to 1970 with Loretta Lynn, Kris Kristofferson, and Ricky Nelson. Then it's back to 1969 with Joni Mitchell, The Monkees, and Roy Clark.

King of Kings πŸŽ₯ (TCM, 10 p.m.): For your Easter pleasure, this 1961 Hollywood epic about the life of Jesus is pretty darn good.

NCIS: New Orleans (CBS, 10 p.m.): When Sebastian is injured while unsuccessfully trying to prevent a kidnapping, NCIS races to find the missing woman and her abductors. The team gets a peek into Agent Carter's personal life. Peggy!!! Oh, not the Agent Carter, just some wannabe. But he is played Charles Michael Davis, who plays Zane on Younger and he is assuredly not worthy of being with Kelsey.

The Rookie (ABC, 10 p.m.): Nolan's relationship with his first confidential informant is tested when he discovers her back on the street dealing drugs. Lucy's fear of dating following her abduction is beginning to threaten her friendship with Jackson.

Run (HBO, 10 p.m.): SERIES PREMIERE. Since Barry isn't gonna return until later this year, HBO gives us Merritt Weaver and Domhnall Gleeson (sends up Whistler signal) in this comedy thriller. Ruby's (Weaver) humdrum life gets turned upside down when she receives a text from her college sweetheart (Gleeson) inviting her to drop everything and meet him in New York to fulfill the pact they made 17 years earlier. Personally, I'd like to think of this as a crossover of Marriage Story and Peter Rabbit. The recurring cast includes producer Phoebe Waller-Bridge and Archie Panjabi.✔️

This Is Stand-Up (Comedy Central, 10 p.m.): SPECIAL. Several years in the making, this documentary interviews numerous comics (Chris Rock, Sarah Silverman, Kevin Hart, Garry Shandling, Jessica Kirson, Jamie Foxx, Cedric the Entertainer, Tiffany Haddish, Jay Mohr,...) to discuss everything from open mics to finding a voice to the importance of comedy. ✔️

Willie Nelson: American Outlaw (A&E, 10 p.m.): SPECIAL. Performers gather in Nashville to celebrate the iconic Texan's seven-decade-long career as the creative genius behind some of country music's most historic recordings.

FOR THE RECORDBar Rescue (Paramount Network); Beat Bobby Flay (Food Network); Food Paradise (Cooking Channel); Forbidden History (Science); Forensic Files II (HLN, finale); Secrets of the Zoo: Down Under (Nat Geo Wild); Sister Wives (TLC, finale); Unsung (TV One)

πŸ•š EASTERN / πŸ•™ CENTRAL

Welcome Back, Kotter πŸ“Ί (Antenna TV, 11 p.m.): Spend Sunday with Mr. Kotter and the Sweathogs. Has the show aged well? Not really? But how good was it in the first place? In the latter episode after Travolta left and when Kaplan rarely appeared, Epstein mixes an X-rated movie up with a sex education film Julie has arranged to show to the parents' group.
