What's On Tonight (Saturday): Hugh Jackman is up to no good

Bad Education (via Giphy)
Kon'nichiwa! Tonight, HBO brings a once-possible Oscar contender straight to the small screen where it will compete at the Emmy Awards. The high-priced movie tells the mostly-true story of a Long Island school district where the top administrators were skimming money for themselves. Because the students were doing so well, no one felt the need to look at the financial books. Elsewhere, I finally started listing some of the TZGZ lineup, even if they've all aired elsewhere prior. Also, Club MTV is back, Toonami resurrects the outstanding Paranoia Agent, Danica McKellar solves a mystery, and former strip club workers take over Showtime. I got you babe, here's what's on television for tonight, Saturday, April 25!

STREAMING / EARLY PRIMETIME

The Creator Games Presented by MrBeast (YouTube, 3 a.m.): As a non-video gamer, this title makes no sense to me.

⭐ Bad Education ðŸŽ¥ (HBO, 8 p.m.): With a solid cast led by Hugh Jackman and including Allison Janney, Ray Romano, and Geraldine Viswanathan and based on a New York magazine piece, this high-priced TIFF favorite skips the movie theaters and comes straight to TV -- which is expected nowadays, but not when this was first grabbed by HBO for a substantial $20 million. The movie tells the tale of Frank Tassone (Hugh Jackman), who hoodwinked a Long Island town to the tune of $11.2 million over several years. A student journalist is the one who will start chipping away at his and others' scheming.✔️

Also, Bates pays off Fabian's mother to assign guardianship, and Belker busts a crooked parole officer who runs a car theft ring.

Cyanide & Happiness (Syfy, 1:20 a.m.): A girl has a party trick... a superhero fights grime... a man saves Earth with a cup.

Paranoia Agent ðŸ“º (Adult Swim, 1 a.m.): Toonami brings back this fantastic anime series from the mid '00s. I haven't seen this since it first aired stateside 15-ish years ago. Popular character designer Tsukiko Sagi is attacked by a young man with a baseball bat just after praying for a miracle. Police detectives Ikari and Maniwa start an investigation.✔️
