What's On Tonight (Friday): Star Wars The Clone Wars Nearly Finishes Up Its 7 Year Run

Hello One and All, Star Wars The Clone Wars has yet to ever be Top Pick so tonight it is officially earning that status even tho it actually has two weeks after this one before its finale. There's other stuff on to be sure, Netflix stuff, CBS, CBS, CBS stuff, The Blacklist, but for its finale, The Clone Wars is Top Pick. This is What's On for Friday April 24th 2020
Streaming:

Star Wars: The Clone Wars (Disney +): Top Pick of the night (on a verrry slow night to be fair) goes to this surprisingly long running show set in the Star Wars universe that i know Amadeus is a fan of and has lobbied for it to get Top Pick status in the past. Thus I give you...Top Pick Status! Tonight's episode is titled "The Phantom Apprentice." I was under the impression that tonight was its finale, but googling it reveals that the show actually has two more episodes yet to air after the one tonight, so maybe it'll get another chance at being Top Pick before it finishes up? I mean Fridays are kinda barren...

Defending Jacob (Apple TV): New mini-series based on a bestselling book from years past by William Landay (I've actually seen it on the shelf of my library so I know its real!) This show stars Chris Evans and Michelle Dockery as two parents forced to confront the unthinkable when their 8 year old son might have (might have) committed a horrible murder and Evans who is the small town DA in the town that they live in has to decide between covering it up or unraveling the truth no matter where it leads him. (I'm gonna guess he chooses to cover it up because otherwise I'm not sure why its a mini-series as opposed to a movie) This also co-stars Pablo Schreiber and Cherry Jones.

Happiness-A Jonas Brothers Concert Film (Amazon): Pretty much what the title says.

And now for the deluge of Netflix stuff---

After Life--Season Two: This was the Ricky Gervais show from last year in he which he plays a widow whom in dealing with his grief decides to just say and do whatever he wants no matter whom it pisses off (how is that different than how real life Ricky lives his life again???) and his friends kinda try to stop him from doing so for some reason??? (I don't know, i didn't see it, tho i actually do like Gervais more often than not--I maintain that "Ghost Town" was a very underrated movie, but he was also kinda watered down somewhat in that to make him more palatable for mainstream audiences too)

Love 101: A new Turkish language show about a group of teen girl basketball players who all conspire to find love for their coach. (This Is A Show?!?!?!?)

Hello Ninja: A kids show about two best friends whom along with their cat named Pretzel transform themselves into ninjas. (nods) (Wait the cat also transforms himself into a ninja???)

EXTRACTION: And finally we have an actual honest to goodness big budget movie! (MOVIE!) starring Chris Hemsworth (THOR Himself!) as a blackmarket mercenary hired to extract the son of an international crime lord from kidnappers.  Lyona's man David Harbour is also in it and it is the feature film directing debut of Sam Hargrave whom prior to this was a high profile stunt coordinator whose prior work included the various Avengers movies as well as Thor, and Atomic Blonde and The Hunger Games movies as well. So there you go.

Broadcast:

MacGyver (CBS): Mac is placed in a fake prison cell with a top Codex Operative named "The Merchant" in order to gain his trust and try to get some intel on Codex's next move.

The Blacklist (NBC): Liz and the Task Force take on a cold case that may be connected to some recent unsolved homicides; Red tries to help a friend of Dembe who is in some trouble.

2020 NFL Draft (ABC): Night 2

Friday Night Smackdown (FOX): Once again, it is a Friday Night therefore, Smackdowns are being given out, handed down, and passed around as per Friday Night Tradition. (HockeyMike this is your weekly reminder that its Friday!)

Penn and Teller Fool Us (The CW): Filler filling in for what would be "Charmed" which has also yet to be top pick and God Willing will get to be Top Pick before they too run out of episodes.

Ru Paul's Drag Race (VH1): Its time for America's first drag queen president. (Wha???)

Christmas At Dollywood (Hallmark): Your Hallmark Channel Movie of the Evening where Niall Matter and Danica McKellar find love at Dollywood. (Dolly herself co-stars!)

9:00

Magnum PI (CBS): The case of recovering the stolen urn of a woman's deceased husband takes a turn when it turns out that the urn might be worth killing for as something valuable might be hidden inside; Rick and TC confront a man who's been impersonating football player Andre Reed.

Dateline (NBC): A college student is found murdered in a residential neighborhood, as police search for the truth, they are stunned to learn that one of their own is involved.

Whose Line? (The CW): Both the 9:00 and 9:30 episodes are reruns from last September filling in for Dynasty.

Somewhere South (PBS):  Sampling a collard green sandwich at the Lumbee Tribe of North Carolina's annual homecoming; on a trip to Georgia, Vivian Howard meets refugee farmers who grow greens that remind them of home.

Diners, Drive-Ins, and Dives (Food): With restaurant takeout and delivery sweeping the nation during the current quarantine, Guy decides to host a Triple D family reunion virtually chcecking in on 4 alumni chefs via video featuring chicken tamales from Arizona and paella fritters from South Carolina. (Look at Guy Fieri being all responsible during this era of pandemic!!!)

Gold Rush (Discovery): Tyler leads Parker to a premium hard rock mine where the two of them try to make a determination as to whether or not the site is worth the risks posed by mining or not. (Isn't that the whole point of the show???)

9:30

Ru-Paul's Drag Race Celebrity Edition (VH1): 4 part event has 3 actors competing to win a drag queen competition for a 30 thousand grand prize made to the charity of their choice. (Well i mean if there can be a Celebrity Apprentice, why not a Celebrity Ru-Paul Drag Race???)

Green Acres (MeTV): Eb elopes leaving Oliver and Lisa scrambling to fill in at the last minute.

10:00

Blue Bloods (CBS): Finally Back For New Episodes (tho probably not for very long) tonight "Danny and Baez are faced with tracking down a drug dealer after two young models are found dead from an overdose; Eddie and Jamie team up to determine who the mastermind is behind a robbery in their neighborhood." (BUT WHAT ABOUT COMMISSIONER MUSTACHE?!?!?!?!?) (Well tune in and find out what his plotline is tonight I guess??? CBS? CBS? CBS?)

Great Performances (PBS): Scott Yoo travels to Northern Italy and experiences Vivaldi's Four Seasons for himself and how it merged religious melodies, opera and virtuosic violin playing. (This is a rerun from September!)

Alaska the Last Frontier (Discovery): Kitchen Quarantine. (So Quarantine has come to Alaska as well I see!)
