What's On Tonight (Monday): The Plot Against America Is Here To Remind Us All That Things Could Be Worse

(cough cough) Well maybe not much worse, but still worse!!!! I read the book a number of years back and its a really good read, very strong stuff. (It speculates on what life would've been like here in America had Charles Lindbergh decided to run for President against FDR for one of his terms--and you know wins and immediately isolates us from WW2) When Trump was campaigning and did the whole "America First" thing, I immediately remembered it as the Charles Lindbergh campaign slogan as well. People who see this without having read the book are gonna think that was done specifically to parody Trump, but no the book did it first!!!! Anyways if anyone here would like to give me their HBO password so i can see the thing for myself....(raises eyebrows--hmm???) I'll see it sometime eventually I guess. (although i could see it quicker...) This is What's On For March 16th 2020!!!!!!!!

8:00

The Neighborhood (CBS): When Grover joins Cedric's youth basketball team, Gemma finds herself at odds with Cedric's coaching style; Tina and Marty are forced to confront a long buried family secret. (that plotline honestly sounds more intriguing to me than Cedric and Gemma disagree on how to coach a kids' basketball team but you do you CBS sitcom...you do you!)

The Voice (NBC): Blind Auditions Part 5 (I know that its blind because the judges' chairs are all turned around so they can't see who the singer is, but blindfolds would be just as effective you know)

9-1-1 (FOX): Returning to the schedule for the first time since December, the original 9-1-1 (not the Rob Lowe spin-off) picks back up where it left off with its back ten episodes. (or however many they completed before Corona Virus shutdown fever affected them) "The 118 responds to a skydiving trip gone wrong; a bank rep is injured in a home repossession; a lovestruck assistants lunch run ends in disaster; Athena and the family come to terms with Michael's difficult health decision. (Welcome Back 9-1-1)

American Idol (ABC): episode 306 (ok) has contestants performing a song in their selected genre. Its the start of Hollywood Week this week apparently. (You know Hollywood--as in the place that everyone goes to when the judges say at the end of a successful audition "You're Going To Hollywood!" Yeah that place!)

Supernatural (The CW): This show also returns to the schedule tonight to play out the last 8 episodes of its season (Now 6 actually because apparently Corona Virus Shutdown fever has cost the show their last 2 episodes which is crazy considering the show was supposed to end this season!!!) "Sam and Dean respond to a frantic call and assist in an extraordinary and heartbreaking rescue; Billie surprises everyone with a visit to the bunker." (Lest you forget but Billie is like the Grim Reaper on the show, so Death coming by for a visit can hardly be a good thing right?) (Also did you have to be moved directly against the CBS Monday night sitcoms i like?!?!?!?)

Antiques Roadshow (PBS): Also back for new episodes tonight is this show (they'd been in reruns for like the last 3 weeks for some reason) They're still at the Crocker Art Museum--this time its the 3rd one set there! "A marvel Silver Age comics collection, a Mongolia micromosaic plague of Beatrice Cenci circa 1870, letters from Barack Obama (who's that?!?!?!?) from 1983-99."

Cosmos-Possible Worlds (Nat Geo): Still airing 2 episodes back to back this week, up first we got "The Lost City of Life" Man has the first clues to life's beginnings/origins on Earth. (and maybe Earth-2 as well???) (Also because origins was used--"We have to find the oranges of life on Earth")

Moonlight In Vermont (Hallmark): Your Hallmark Channel Movie of the night is this one where "A real estate broker retreats to her family's inn in Vermont after being dumped by her long-term boyfriend" (Sooo Hallmark is now borrowing 80s sitcom premises for their movies??? I mean I guess Newhart could be reworked to be a Hallmark movie....but why would you???) (Starring Lacey Chabert!!!) (of course it does!!!)

8:30

Bob Hearts Abishola (CBS): Bob's past meets his present when his ex-wife is admitted to Abishola's hospital. (Well its not Abishola's hospital-come on now!); Christina (that's Bob's airhead sister just so we're clear) she recruits Kofo for a project to rename the sock colors. (Now THAT'S a B story right there! The episode seems to be titled after that btw because its called "Sock Wife")

9:00

All Rise (CBS): Judge Lola and Mark find themselves in trouble for putting their biases too hard in the cases they are involved in this week, so as punishment Judge Lola is assigned to arraignment court for the week while Mark is dragged down to the Charge Evaluation Unit. (I don't know what that means either--i'm assuming it means exactly what it sounds like--a panel that determines what charge is worth what sentence i guess) (I don't know why CBS gave this show a full season order honestly)

Prodigal Son (FOX): Returning to the schedule with new episodes (for now) after a three week absences is this serial killer procedural--this week "A motorcycle gang robbery turns into a murder; Malcolm runs into an old friend and they work to uncover the identity of the murderer (well duh!); meanwhile Malcolm's dad Martin blackmails Malcom's mom Jessica exchanging his silence about who stabbed him in that prison cell in exchange for more quality time with his son. (Um but your son was the one who--Ohh nevermind!!!!) (I imagine this is what i'll be watching in this hour since the other shows on against it aren't stuff i'm too interested in and I am following the ongoing plotlines)

Roswell New Mexico (The CW): The runner-up for Top Pick tonight is the 2nd season premiere of this show which eked out a surprise renewal last spring (yes I know that The CW tends to renew everything most of the time anyways, but even there it was kind of a surprise that this would get a 2nd season as it was a reboot that literally no one asked for!) "Torn between the heartache of Max's sacrifice and the joys of Rosa's resurrection, Liz suppresses her grief to focus on moving out of Roswell with Rosa; Michael copes with Max's death (SPOILERS!!!) in his own self destructive way; Isobel learns about her alien powers. (ROSWELL THAT ENDS WELL!!!) (Ha! I Kill Me!)

Antiques Roadshow (PBS): Immediately going back to reruns after the new episode has aired, this show pulls out an episode from April of '18 that has them going to Green Bay. "A Renaissance revival paisan ring from 1875, a 1939 Union Pacific premiere banner, and a Henry Bertoia spray sculpture from 1965.

Better Call Saul (AMC): Mike takes an impromptu trip out of town; As she and Jimmy grow closer over the campaign to help a client, Kim makes a surprising call. (How could they possibly grow any closer??? They're like living together now right???) (The episode is titled "Dedicado A Max")

The Plot Against America (HBO): Top Pick of the night goes to this 6 part (i believe its 6 parts--it may be 8???) miniseries based on the Phillip Roth novel of the same name, I already explained in the intro what it was about but here's the official synopsis "Herman takes his family to look at a house in an upwardly mobile neighborhood, though Bess is wary of losing the safety of the tight knit Jewish community where they currently live; Evelyn becomes charmed by a distinguished local clergyman" The show stars Zoe Kazan, Morgan Spector, Winona Ryder, John Turturro, and Anthony Boyle.

High Anxiety (Freeform): So this Zoe Kravitz starring streaming show (the tv adaptation of the John Cusack movie of the same name) comes to basic cable tonight (I'm assuming it'll be slightly edited) with not 1, not 2, but 3 episodes all in a row--for those of you interested in this---its gonna run as follows--episode 1 from 9-9:47, 2nd episode from 9:47-10:24, and 3rd episode from 10:24-11:00. (Did you get all that???)

Cosmos-Possible Worlds (Nat Geo): 2nd episode in a row of this show is called "Vavilou"---Nikolai Vavilov risks his life for a discovery that changes the history of science. (FOR SCIENCE!!!!!)

American Pickers (History): The founder of a memoryville (???) open the doors to his vintage wonderland as Mefford the mechanic has an update on the legendary Madame X Cadillac.

Beyond the Unkown (Travel): Alien siege on a Kentucky farm; a ghostly encounter torments a girl in Tennessee; a plot to communicate with the ghost of Thomas Edison. (Oh Come On Now!!!!)

Gomer Pyle (MeTV): After a stuntwoman subdues 2 hoodlums, Gomer and Sgt. Carter get the credit. (Ha--sexism! What chu gonna do??? It was the 60s!)

9:30

Green Acres (MeTV): Hooterville farmers gripe about Oliver's suit and tie appearance. (Hey As Long As He's Got His Suit And Tie!!!) (You guys remember that song right???) (Of course you do!!!)

10:00

Bull (CBS): Tonight (takes breath) An expert on anthrax is accused of orchestrating a series of anthrax attacks; Bull sets out to prove the city was in such a rush to calm the public's hysteria that they arrested the wrong person. (Yeah you see why i had to take that breath before typing that--what do you think the odds are that this episode gets bumped in favor of another one tonight??? I mean seriously right???)

Manifest (NBC): When Grace's pregnancy complicates the pursuit of a calling, Ben finds himself working alongside an uneasy new ally (That ally??? You guessed it--Frank Stallone!); Michaela tries to make amends with Jared; and the Xers (??? I can't make out that word on my paper here) whoever this mysterious group is--they got their sights set on Zeke. (LOOK OUT ZEKE!!!!) (Oh for the record Frank Stallone is not actually guest starring on this show--it was a joke--although i mean i'm sure he's available!!!)

20/20 (ABC): Substituting at the last minute for what would've been a rerun of The Good Doctor anyways is this (sighs)  special about--That's right--You Guessed It--Corona Virus--Outbreak--What You Need To Know! (I would've genuinely preferred that rerun of The Good Doctor quite honestly)

Anne Morgan's War (PBS): Heiress Anne Morgan puts her own fortune into rebuilding Piccarty, a region in northern France that was devastated by World War 1. (Ohh Anne, if only you could've seen about 20-25 years in the future and saved your money!)

Breeders (FX): Michael thrives in his new role as a dad and granddad but Paul and Ally can't adapt to his presence as easily as the kids can; Luke's hunt for proof that Sana doesn't exist puts Paul's claim that he never lies to the test. (Nods) (Kids am i right??) (Also parents too! what's up with them???)

Dispatches From Elsewhere (AMC): Fredwynn (aka Andre 3000) steps into the spotlight with this installment, He takes matters into his own hands but he needs his teammates to move on, he searches for the next clue and asks the gang for help, but they take too far in their search for answers leading them somewhere unexpected. (Frank Stallone's House?!?!?!?) (I started watching this show the other day btw--only 3 episodes have aired so far so it wasn't that hard to catch up on--I like it! Its very, very, very quirky but I like it, I'm in!) (Also i didn't realize that every episode was like written by Jason Segal!!! Its honestly pretty disarming how likeable it is--tho you know I do wonder if it'll actually go anywhere aside from in circles!)

My Brilliant Friend-Story of a New Name (HBO): So this Italian drama (its Italian right?) starts a 2nd season tonight with "A newly married Lila grows profoundly resentful of her new husband and finds ways to carry on seeing Elena--aka--her brilliant friend" (Ummm I know its based on a very successful novel--but apart from that I have no idea what's happening here--I guess its about an affair these two women had and now one can't quit the other???) (I Wish I Could Quit You!!!!)

Cops (Paramount): Police pursue a man who takes off on a shoddy moped that can't go above 40mph (or else it'll explode?!?!?!?); a woman claims her previous toxic relationship is to blame for the contents of her car; an erotic dancer immediately puts officers on guard. (with his awesome fencing abilities?!?!?!??) (COPS IS FILMED IN FRONT OF A LIVE STUDIO AUDIENCE!!!!!!!! YA HEARD????)

Pawn Stars (History): Watches, Waistcoats, and Wizards (Oh My!)

Beyond the Unknown (Travel): More Beyond the Unknown here as A UFO crash in Wild West era Texas is explored; the tale of a crystal skull is told (hey i've seen that movie!); and the true story behind Dracula. (the true story is that it was some count who suffered from some blood disorder like Porphyria or something like it--I actually know about that thanks to House! Good ol' House M.D.!)

Drain the Ancient Empires (Nat Geo): Shattered remains of ancient wrecks lie beneath the world's ocean. (Shattered dreams...shattered dreams...nothin' but shattered dreams...shattered dreams..feelin' like a runaway, runaway--nothin' but shattered dreams, shattered dreams--ooh)

11:00

Briarpatch (USA): "The Most Sinful MFer Alive" Lights go out, the guns come out to play! (makes sense to me) (I still insist that is a pretty good show that USA is treating incredibly shabbily!!!!)

Midnight

Carter (WGN): A case of mistaken identity puts Harley in the middle of an online dating disappearance. (Episode is titled "Harley Doesn't Get His Man") (Well wait that's ridiculous--he always gets the bad guy!!!) (Midnight TV! Midnight TV! Midnight TV!) (You know with all the late night shows in reruns now--I might actually be able to watch this one as it airs now!) (Except i'll probably still be commenting here so i wouldn't be able to give it my full attention anyways) (Ahh i guess its still on demand for you reasonably entertaining Jerry O'Connell comedic mystery show!)

THAT'S ALL I GOT FOR TONIGHT--BUT COME ON THAT'S A LOT!!! BEFORE TOO LONG ITS NOT GONNA BE NEARLY AS MUCH SO BETTER ENJOY IT WHILE IT LASTS BABY!!! HAVE A GOOD START OF THE WORKWEEK!!!!
