Namaste--This is What's On for March 30th 2020
8:00
The Neighborhood (CBS): CBS is in rerun mode tonight again but they have 3 episodes of this sitcom on tonight! 3!!! Kicking things off is a rerun of the episode that had the 2 main couples all going out to dinner together at a trendy new soul food restaurant and when Cedric goes to compliment the chef, is mighty surprised to find out that the chef is a white dude. (This gets Cedric all up in arms) There's a B story that involves Grover who's 9 inviting Marty and Malcolm who are both in their late 20's (i think) to be guests on his brand new podcast. (Its cute--I saw it when it first aired!)
The Voice (NBC): The Battles Part 2
9-1-1 (FOX): Accidents happen at a bowling alley and at a home renovation center; Athena pursues a car thief; Bobby and Michael take Harry camping; Chimney and Maddie (that's Jennifer Love Hewitt) rush into action when their romantic dinner date takes a wild turn. (Ruh-Roh)
Celebrity Family Feud (ABC): For some reason ABC is rerunning last summer's edition of their prime-time Family Feud here starting tonight (Its Kelly Clarkson vs Amy Schumer and Bindi Irwin vs Chrissy Mets in tonight's rerun!)
Whose Line? (The CW): Tonight acting as filler for Supernatural we have a NEW episode (Whoa!) as Amber Riley (hey i remember her---she used to be on Glee!) is the guest and Jeff Davis is featured. (That's followed at 8:30 by a rerun that features Chris Hardwick)
Antiques Roadshow (PBS): Dessert Botanical Garden Part 2--A Cartier jadeite pendant necklace; a Kanye West original artwork circa 1995 (he would've been in high school then!); a 1906 Louis Akin Chromolithograph. (nods)
Cosmos--Possible Worlds (Nat Geo): "Search for Intelligent Life on Earth" Revelations of a hidden underground network that is a collaboration of 4 kingsodms of life; and a true first contact story between humans and other beings. (FIRST CONTACT!!!)
Love, Romance, and Chocolate (Hallmark): Your Hallmark Channel Movie of the Night is this one where Lacey Chabert (but of course its her!) plays a chocolate maker who enters a competition to become a royal chocolatier for the Belgium Royal Family. (Does she find love in the process??? Well it is a Hallmark Channel movie so i'm gonna guess yes???)
8:30
Bob Hearts Abishola (CBS): This is a rerun from last month that has the title pair trying to reconcile his mom Dottie with her Auntie Olu and her Uncle Tunde---In the process Bob sticks his foot in his mouth when it turns out he and Abishola might not be on the same page about how their relationship is progressing. (But you know they make up!)
9:00
The Neighborhood (CBS): Filling in for what would've been a rerun of All Rise" is a double shot of this sitcom--both reruns of course. First up is the one where Dave fills in for Cedric and escorts Cedric's wife Tina to an REO Speedwagon concert and the two of them bond (its rare for the two of them to be paired up in a plotline!) Meanwhile there's an actually quite funny B story that has a parrot flying in to Dave and Gemma's house and she enlists Cedric and his two sons to try and get it to fly out of the house. (I thought it was funny--it is very sitcom-y, but i remember laughing at it--Cedric squares off with that parrot at one point.) ("oh its on now parrot!!!!")
Prodigal Son (NBC): A ballet dancer is mysteriously poisoned; Jessica reunited with an old friend; Bright and Eve turn to Martin for answers regarding the girl in the box. (Again With "The Girl In the Box?!?!?!?" Let it go already guys!!!) (The show doubles down in response to my saying that)
America Rising---Fighting the Pandemic (ABC): Its all pretty much in the title honestly.
Roswell New Mexico (The CW): Determined to regain control of her life in the aftermath of Nolan's death, Isobel makes a risky choice despite its potential consequences; Alex and Michael work together to unravel the mystery surrounding the night Marc's spaceship crashed in 1947. (Well good luck with all that Roswell New Mexico!)
Antiques Roadshow (PBS): Rerun from January of 2016 has them going to Spokane---and features a 1919 Belmont Stakes trophy; a 1963 Avengers comics; and 2 Amadeo de Souza Cardoso oil paintings
Better Call Saul (AMC): Jimmy and Kim build a legal firewall with help from Huell; Kim sets things straight with her clients as Jimmy is compromised by his; Gus who is at war on all fronts, tries to calm troubled waters in service of his plot to build an empire; Mike tries to do damage control. (Nods) (These all sound like things these characters would be doing on any given episode honestly)
The Plot Against America (HBO): So i looked and there doesn't seem to be any like synopsis for a plotline for tonight's episode so I'm just gonna make one up--- Episode 3!!!!!!!! "Umm everyone in the Jewish community in Newark continues to freak out about what the hell Lindbergh is doing and antisemitism continues to rise in the rest of the country. Oh and Winona Ryder and John Turturro continue to kanoodle." (Oh and the guy with the stump angrily monologues some more as well!) (i'm going by what i remember from the book--for all i know the character with the stump is not even in the show--although he was prominently featured in the book!)
Cosmos-Possible Worlds (Nat Geo): "Sacrifice of Cassini"--The mysteriously untold story of the scientist who made the Apollo Mission possible. and a robotic explorer is ordered to self destruct on another world. (I've seen that movie! It ends with the robot going crazy and trying to kill everyone!) (I believe it had Val Kilmer in it!)
Beyond the Unknown (Travel): Hunting down the Yeti; a curse put on a family who witnessed the Lincoln assassination; and Bigfoot sightings in the South. (A family who witnessed the Lincoln assassination??? Wasn't he assassinated in plain view in public???)
American Pickers (History): Big Buckin' (again no synopsis was provided by my cable co but i feel like Jasoo might have me covered on this!)
Driven (Discovery): New reality series involving the resurrection of old cars (hey right on time for Easter); this is its premiere tonight!
Gomer Pyle (MeTV): Him and Sgt. Carter become contestants on a "Win A Date" tv program. (Don't they both already have girlfriends tho???)
9:30
The Neighborhood (CBS): The 3rd of tonight's rerun episodes finds Gemma setting Malcolm up with a teacher at her school. (Gemma is an elementary school principal in case you didn't know) Its a cute episode as Malcolm is reluctant to date anyone cause he feels inadequate living at home without any employment. (Oh no wait he's a security guard now--either way i know how he feels!)
Green Acres (MeTV): Lisa tries to cure her boredom by appointing herself Hooterville humane officer. (oook)
10:00
James Corden's Homefest (CBS): No "Bull" episode tonight as James Corden takes over the hour for an hour of fun and merriment with what i imagine has to be clips featuring various entertainers. (Right? they gotta be clips!) CBS has been billing this as a brand new special even tho they'd have to be clips right??? I can't imagine they're new bits and pieces here with everyone in quarantine still.
Manifest (NBC): Ben is drawn to help absolve a passenger of his guilt while Saanvi enlists help in protecting herself from the Major; Jared and Drea must extract a confession from a trio of ruthless meth dealers who would do anything to extract revenge on Michaela. (A Trio of Ruthless Meth Dealers?!?!?!?) (Manifest I hardly know you sometimes!)
The Good Doctor (ABC): Top Pick of the Night goes to this medical show which tonight is having its 3rd season finale. "Doctors work against time and their own personal safety to save the lives of those around them" (Last week there was a huge earthquake and they had to pull people who were trapped in the rubble--they were all at a swanky benefit---and our titular doctor declared his love for Lea yet again but this time she like heard him over the walkie talkie as he was describing why he loved her to a woman whom he was trying to save from the wreckage, and it was very soap-y.) (This was after he destroyed the side mirror on her car by the way because she rejected him saying that she couldn't handle being with an autistic guy because she didn't feel like she could handle it, even tho he's you know pretty damn capable, and they've been tight friends since the show started!) Anyways THE GOOD DOCTOR!!! (There's also I presume resolution to other plotlines the show has been featuring this season---there's Fiona Gubelman's tremors problem preventing her from having a future as a surgeon; there's the relationship between Dr. Brown and her boss Dr. Melendez)
Breeders (FX): In the wake of Micahel's death, the family stays with Darren at his country house, but Pail's attempt to give Ally some space by taking on kid duties and Darren's fixation on work doesn't help Ally find a chance to say goodbye. (The episode is called "No Talking")
Independent Lens (PBS): "One Child Nation" Filmmaker Nanfa Wang investigates the untild history of China's one child police, including its impact on generations of mothers and children. (This was an Amazon doc and one that got nominated for an Oscar i think right??? maybe not)
Dispatches From Elsewhere (AMC): With time running out, the gang splits up in an effort fo find Clara (Who's Clara?!?!?!?); Simone and Janice follow her artwork, while Fredwynn and Peter link the game to a large corporation. (But Who Is Clara?!?!?!?) (I"m kidding, I totally know who Clara is) (Well only kinda sorta to be honest)
My Brilliant Friend--Story of a New Name (HBO): Lila continues to hold a grudge against Stefano as the shoe shop opens and she goes to work at his new grocery store. Elena brings Lila to a party at her teacher's home. (Nods)
Almost Paradise (WGN): PREMIERE!!!!! Premiering tonight is a new hour long series in which "When an ex DEA agent retires to a tranquil out of the way resort in the Philippines, he finds himself falling back into his undercover operative ways when he gets pulled into a drug sting by the local police department" (Every Time I Think I'm Out...They Pull Me Back In!!!!) (OOH STARRING CHRISTIAN KANE!!!!) (I might actually check this out at some point--I have liked him in previous shows he's been on--Leverage and The Librarians--oh and he was on Angel too at one point right?)
Beyond the Unknown (Travel): Lochness monster, a vengeful ghost who returns from the grave, the resting place of the Sleeping Prophet. (the who now???)
Cops (Paramount): A suspect bails out of his friend's car when deputies catch him making a shady move; a nervous driver presumptively denies ownership of all his clothes (Ha!); a man's decision to fire off some rounds puts his neighbors on edge. (The episode is titled "The Gun In the Gutter" and i know what you're thinking---"Cops" has episode titles?!?!?!?) (Oh and...COPS IS FILMED IN FRONT OF A LIVE STUDIO AUDIENCE!!!!!)
Fast 'N' Loud (Discovery): Season 16 of whatever this is premieres tonight! (nods)
11:00
Briarpatch (USA): Episode 8 (we're almost done!) finds "Jake playing arrrogant as a plan is hatched; and the Class of '99 is looking Ninety-Fine" (I wish i was making that up--that's actually in the episode synopsis!) (The episode is titled "Most Likely To Succeed") (I keep telling y'all that this is secretly a pretty good show--is anyone aside from me watching??? Who knows??? Will it be discovered some months from now on streaming??? I'd like to think so!)
THAT'S IT FOR ME FOR TONIGHT---THERE'S NO MORE CARTER ON WGN WHICH MAKES ME WONDER IF IT FINISHED ITS SEASON??? EITHER WAY HAVE A GOOD START TO THE WORKWEEK--WHATEVER THAT EVEN LOOKS LIKE FOR YOU GUYS ANYMORE!!!
