Hi Ya Everybody. Tonight TV features a fair number of season finales, as well as one enormously delayed premiere--tho its unclear if anyone was actually anticipating the return of Cosmos to the airwaves at this point---its been three years since it last aired?!?!?!? That's crazy that it took so long to come back, but I guess fans of Cosmos never say die. ("Its our time down here") This is What's On for March 9th 2020
8:00
The Neighborhood (CBS): When Cedric decides to film a commercial for his business to run on local tv, he asks Dave, Tina, and Marty for their help (i like the sound of this plotline); Malcolm considers making a grand gesture when Sofia, his kinda-sorta girlfriend is offered a dream job abroad. (No Malcolm, you only just met her a few episodes ago!!!)
The Voice (NBC): Blind Auditions Part 4 (Part 4 You Guys!!!!)
9-1-1 Lone Star (FOX): This Rob Lowe vehicle (ha vehicle) is airing two back to back episodes tonight with the 2nd of them being its season finale. (I say season finale tho its unclear as of right now if the show will be coming back, but I feel like its a good bet to get a renewal, it didn't do too badly here, and as a show it was a solid placeholder til the regular 9-1-1 was able to return) Anyways on tonight's episodes---"Owen and the crew race to a gender reveal party gone horribly wrong; a father and son get trapped in a cave during a spelunking excursion; Owen helps TK reconcile the past; and Judd and Grace aid Judd's aging father." (The episodes are titled "Awakening and Austin We Have A Problem" )
The Bachelor (ABC): The latest season nearly (nearly) comes an end with Part 1 of what's sure to be its never-ending season finale next week "After the shocking ending to the fantasy suite dates, Peter, Hannah, and Madison travel to Alice Springs Australia. (Well why not???)
All American (The CW): In this show's 2nd season finale (but don't worry, this being part of the CW network, it has already been renewed for a 3rd season even tho I'm not sure anyone here actually was worried since i don't believe anyone here actually watches it, but i could be wrong!) "Billy makes a decision about his future that surprises everyone; Layla focuses on trying to get Coop a tour for the summer but isn't having much luck; Asher has an opportunity to spend the summer with his mom but isn't sure if he should go." (The episode is called "Decisions")
Antiques Roadshow (PBS): Another rerun from Portland and from April of 2018 finds "A Pablo Picasso Grand Olgeau Vert pot; an Ottoman Zarf from 1875; and a Tiffany Studios Bookmark desk set circa 1924. (What's a Zarf???) (Zarf!!!)
Cosmos--Possible Worlds (Nat Geo): Finally returning from the dead is this Neil DeGrasse Tyson hosted science show ("Yay Science") with two back to back episodes (and a new subtitle--"Possible Worlds" as opposed to "Impossible Worlds" which would basically be the one we're all living in--Bazinga--) The first episode is titled "Ladder to the Stars" and is about the evolution of life!
The second episode is titled "Fleeting Grace of the Habitable Zone" and is about the long term vision of humanity's future worlds. (nods) Nice to have you back Science Show I'll probably never watch, but have a friend or two who like you very much nonetheless.
Love Blossoms (Hallmark): And from one intellectual program to another---Your Hallmark Channel Movie of the night is this one where "A perfume maker wants to finish a formula left behind by her late mom, she gets help from an inexperienced botanist with an uncanny sense of smell" (Yay Science????") Starring Shantel VanSanten and Victor Webster
8:30
Bob Hearts Abishola (CBS): Abishola takes Bob to her church which is a big deal because she usually only goes there with her family; Kemi fights with Ogechi to be Chukwuemeka's favorite. (I don't know who Ogechi is, I'm gonna guess she's Chukwu's mom since the show has said that the two of them have tension) (Also is Chuku now part of the show's cast here???)
9:00
All Rise (CBS): When Judge Lola learns a secret about Judge Bremmer, she faces an excruciating dilemma; Emily avoids the implications of Luke's "I Love You" as she represents a client with mental health issues. (CBS? CBS? CBS?)
Black Lighting (The CW): The titular character faces off against Gravedigger (Wayne Brady!) in the show's 3rd season finale. (I can't believe the show is having its season finale already!) It has already been renewed for a 4th season. (The perks of being aired on The CW) and hopefully they can have longer than 16 episodes next season??? (fingers crossed)
Antiques Roadshow (PBS): Yet another rerun from April of 2018, this time they're in Green Bay "an 1957 Packers Tee Bowl sign, a 1636 Rambrandt Christ Before a Pilate etching, an 1849-50 Gold Rush Diary (shrugs)
Better Call Saul (AMC): As Jimmy doubles down on Saul Goodman's persona, a deeply conflicted Kim brings him an interesting proposition, Gus makes a sacrifice in order to play the long game and Mike attempts to smooth things over with his family. (nods) (We all know that Gus doesn't have that long a game to play, cause you know...KABOOM)
The New Pope (HBO): In this show's season finale "John Paul the 2nd addresses his followers with a message of love, a historic meeting of the suits occurs after six children and the teacher are taken hostage; as the church prepares for battle, Voiello receives a visit from a man close to the caliph." (HBO? HBO? HBO?) (If this show gets another season, will there be yet another Pope???)
American Pickers (History): Mike and Dave go hog wild for a former Minnesota car dealership that's now home to scores of dusty projects and a one of a kind cruise ship.
Beyond the Unknown (Travel): A statue with a life of its own; America's most famous spooky house, and a missing ghost girl torments a popular music venue. (ooook)
Gomer Pyle (MeTV): Hacker vows to get even with Carter after Carter renegs on his agreement to sell Hacker his car. (Somehow this is all Pyle's fault)
9:30
Green Acres (MeTV): Lisa suspects that Oliver is becoming interested in a woman farmer. (nods)
10:00
Bull (CBS): Bull represents a woman who is guilty of kidnapping her niece whom she kidnapped nine years ago in order to stop the girl's father from abusing her. (Nine years ago???)
Manifest (NBC): As a storm rages outside the Stone house, Olive frantically searches for meaning in centuries old texts; Michaela faces unexpected scrutiny at work; Zeke comes to Saanvi's aid when her lab research takes a dangerous turn. (When i first read this synopsis, i thought the word texts was referring to text messages, and that "centuries old texts" just meant texts from like three or four years ago)
The Good Doctor (ABC): A patient has a rare form of dwarfism, a young man who had both arms torn off in a previous farming accident must be treated, Shawn reacts to an emotional situation. (Yeah but that happens most weeks on the show)
Breeders (FX): Ally attempts to acclimatize to Michael's continued presence while Paul begins to question if his accident prone son's frequent injuries might actually be his fault. (Unless you're physically pushing your son causing him to have these accidental injuries, then I say you're good there Paul)
Dispatches From Elsewhere (AMC): While searching for Fredwynn at the shareholders' meeting, the gang has their first encounter with Octavio; Janice explores her past. (Shareholders' Meeting??? Octavio??? Janice exploring her past??? You're a real loose cannon Dispatches From Elsewhere!!!!)
McMillions (HBO): This show is also finishing up its season tonight "as the trial nears, all of the defendants are looking to take any plea deal that they can, but George Changler and others decide to fight to prove their innocence, when Jerome "Uncle Jerry" Jacobson takes the stand, the remaining details of how he pushed off his scheme are disclosed in full. (Good Job Jerry!)
Spy Games (Bravo): Also finishing up its current run of episodes is this reality series that has the final 3 contestants facing off and using everything they've learned about spying with a mission that supposedly puts their learned techniques in action. (Sure Jan--I'll buy that for a dollar!)
Pawn Stars (History): A trophy awarded to retired NBA great Dr. J; a WW 2 bombright, some antique quack medicine bottles; a little coin nicknamed the sacrifice. (Bombright???)
Beyond the Unknown (Travel): A tale of money, mastodons, and murder; (oh my) a priceless Egyptian artifact almost lost at sea.
Cops (Paramount): Police are surprised when one burglary suspect returns to support his partner in crime; Deputies jump back in their cars when a strange car takes off without warning; and a man puts his organizational skills to bad use. (COPS IS IN FILMED IN FRONT OF A LIVE STUDIO AUDIENCE!)
Drain the Superports (Nat Geo);
11:00
Briarpatch (USA): The burn-off of this pretty good crime show continues apace as "Allegra and Single investigate Packingtown, Jake talks to the press; and it's pudding day. (Forget it Jake, It's Pudding Day!)) "Behind God's Back" is the name of the episode.
Midnight
Carter (WGN): And lastly we got the weekly WGN burn-off of this Jerry O'Connell comedic mystery procedural with "Well intentioned advice from Harley ends up with Dave accidentally and unwillingly becoming a bank robber" (D'oh!) The episode is titled "Harley Gets To Be Best Man" (this checks out)
HAVE A GREAT START OF THE WORKWEEK EVERYBODY!!!!
