What's On Tonight (Friday): Spenser For Hire Is Rebooted by Netflix...Why? Beats Me!

It is not a tv series so much as a movie with the potential for other movies to follow---Why make a movie Top Pick tonight and not a TV show when this is a place specifically dedicated to tv shows???Well it was a TV show at one point! I'm not entirely sure if i like the idea of Mark Wahlberg trying to assume the mantle from one Robert Urich, but well if Shemar Moore can do it well with SWAT, I guess Wahlberg might be able to make Spencer his own tho I remain quite reluctant about it!---Besides, have you even seen what else is on tonight??? No??? Well I'm glad you asked because---(rolls up sleeves) This Is What's On for March 6th 2020! (I did that oh so naturally!)

Streaming: There's a lotta crap on here actually---maybe i should've made one of these things Top Pick you're thinking...Possibly, Possibly, Let's Take A Look!

Amazing Stories (Apple TV): That mid 80's anthology series gets a spiffy new reboot! Will it be as timeless as "Family Dog", that one with Kevin Costner as a pilot hanging on for dear life to an animated wheel on his plane, or that one with Christopher Lloyd as a literal teacher from hell? (I think that's about all i remember from the 80s era series--oh right there was one with Danny DeVito and Rhea Peralman and a ring that made her into a homicidal maniac or something right?)

Hillary (Hulu): Yes that Hillary, gets her own 4 hour docu-series (is that a thing???) that takes a look at her life, her career, and her 2016 Presidential run (Too Soon!!!!!) (shrugs) She is a historical figure, tho i again just think its too soon to dive back into this. (Well when won't it be too soon Matthew??? Ummm, 2083!)

Zerozerozero (Amazon Prime): (Who Named This?!?!?!?) Six episode miniseries about "Chaos ensues when a shipment of cocaine is smuggled from South America to Europe" Starring Dane DeHaan (why???), Andrea Riseborough, Harold Torres, Gabriel Byrne, Tcheky Karyo (ooh havn't seen his name in awhile!)

Ugly Delicious (Netflix): Chef David Chang (who was just on Colbert the other night) travels around the world to culinary hot spots worldwide and this docu-series (again with this term?!?!?!?) follows him around

The Protector (Netflix): Third season (!!!!) of this Turkish language drama (!!!!) about a young shopkeeper who learns that he is part of a secret ancient order charged with protecting Istanbul from an ancient enemy. (uh-huh)

Paradise PD (Netflix): ????

Netflix also has a bunch of movies premiering tonight

1) Spencer: Spencer Confidential  Mark Wahlberg stars as the famous 80s TV Detective in a potential movie franchise reboot of the much liked Robert Urich tv show (with Winston Duke as Hawk)  Why this is a Netflix original and not a theatrical release is a good question honestly since Wahlberg is a big enough name that this could've easily gotten theatrical release, but its here, and its free for Netflix subscribers so I won't complain. (Heck I won't even have to leave the house to see it and be able to effectively complain about how Wahlberg is no Robert Urich!--How's that for convenience???? That's pretty hard to beat--tho it won't stop me from complaining anyhow!!!!)

2)Guilty: A new Hindi language film about a songwriter whose boyfriend is accused of rape. (I'm gonna guess that its not a Bollywood musical tho it is about a songwriter so maybe they'll be some songs in it???)

3) I Am Jonas: A new French language film about a 40 something year old guy reflecting back on a secretive relationship he had in 1995 when he was 18 with "an impulsive, twisted, yet irresistible" guy named Nathan.  (Why its good ol' reliable Nathan--Nathan, Nathan, Nathan Detroit!)

4) Twin Murders-The Silence of the White Cities:  Spanish language supernatural drama based on a series of books about a detective who returns home to Vioria-Gasteiz  to solve murders mimicking those allegedly committed by a serial killer who's about to be released from prison. (Well that's unfortunate timing!)

Broadcast:

8:00

MacGyver (CBS): In an attempt to find the main players in the Codex and out of their match fixing finding abilities (whatever that means), Desi goes undercover to infiltrate a soccer team to find the corrupt player working with the shadow organization. (That's a new one to me---infiltrating a soccer team??? No actually, Psych did that once actually...i think it was soccer right???)

Lincoln Rhymes and the Hunt for the Bone Collector (NBC): When a politician's teenage daughter is kidnapped for ransom, Lincoln, Amelia, and the rest of the team must race against time to rescue her before the unthinkable happens; the team makes a startling discovery about the Bone Collector's true identity. (Everybody Loves the Bone Collector!!!)

Shark Tank (ABC): Sustainable teeth cleaning products; a solution for packing light and traveling with baby gear;  a headliner version of a decadent treat; a customizable eyewear product for kids; and Katrina Lake guest judges. (One of these weeks I'm gonna have to give this Top Pick status aren't I?) (I came thiiiis close to doing it tonight quite honestly, but i had to opt for my boy Spencer instead tho again---kinda reluctant to do so)

Friday Night Smackdown (FOX): Smackdowns are once again given out, passed out, and you guessed it--passed around! (If its Friday, Its gotta be Smackdown) (Unlike Shark Tank, I do not feel a pressing need to ever make this Top Pick, but maybe over the summer when its incredibly sloooow, maybe....we'll see...("we'll see" has always been grown-up speak for probably not...but "we'll see!")

Penn and Teller Fool Us (The CW): Rerun filler filling in for what would've been a rerun of Charmed (which also has yet to be Top Pick, and that one i 100% need to make Top Pick at least once before the end of the season for sure since it is a scripted show!)

RuPaul's Drag Race (VH1): The drag queen contestants must write and perform a Bob Fosse inspired jazz number. (I could think of worse ways to spend a Friday night honestly)

The Most Dangerous Animal Of All (FX): New 4 hour docu-series (Jeez--again!!!!) based on a non-fiction book about a guy's search for his biological father revealing the truth that his dad might have actually been the notorious Zodiac Killer. (Whaaaaaattttt?!?!?!?!?!?)  All 4 hours of this are being burnt off by FX tonight from 8 thru Midnight sooooo yeah I dunno either.

Bunk'd (Disney): Noah discovers Mateo sneaking off into the woods at night, decides to follow him, and discovers that Mateo is moonlighting at an inn nearby. (Ohh ok)  (Don't you love how i went from the Zodiac Killer to a Disney Channel show about campers at night???)

Supernanny (Lifetime): NEW Episode!

Switched For Christmas (Hallmark): Estranged identical twins decide to swap lives in the days leading up to Christmas. (shrugs) Staring Candace Cameron Bure and Eion Bailey. (Shrugs again)

8:30

Gabby Duran and the Unsittibles (Disney): She gets a bad review from a client which causes her to lose her mind searching for the oranges of said review. ("We have to find the oranges of the bad review")

9:00

Hawaii 5-0 (CBS): A rancher is murdered after he uncovers human skeletons where legend says that civil war era gold coins are buried; Quinn's former step daughter reaches out to her for help after her father doesn't come home. (Only three episodes left apparently of this long running show since CBS announced rather quietly last week that its ending its run after the current season ends which is set for April 3rd) (If i havn't mentioned it before, I am gonna miss the heck outta this show!)

Dateline (NBC): A man steals millions by conning women over 25 years and they all want revenge. (nods)

20/20 (ABC): Not to be outdone, but this investigative show spends its two hours profiling and lecturing you about the dangers of the Corona Virus (Does the Corona Virus really need more tv coverage??? I feel like we're at peak Corona Virus saturation point now in the media)

Whose Line? (The CW): Two reruns from last August fill the airtime that would normally go to Nu-Dynasty. (The one at 9 has Jeff Davis, and the one at 9:30 has Chris Hardwick)

Crafts (PBS): Two rerun hours of this arts and crafts show pad out PBS' Friday night schedule since they're apparently out of Ken Burns' Country Music documentary series parts to show!

Married at First Sight (Lifetime): New episode (shrugs)

Gold Rush (Discovery):  "The Last Gold" (LAST GOLD?!?!?!?)

The Trade (Showtime): Season Two of this series that i somehow never knew was a thing before season premieres tonight with "Magda and her daughter flee Honduras for Colorado; Victor awaits his next ICE hearing; and Agent Ramirez leads an investigation into a smuggling cell in McAllen Texas. (Anyone hear of this show before??? Amadeus???)

10:00

Blue Bloods (CBS): Finally back with new episodes tonight---Jamie is under investigation after his police vest is found on a perp;  Frank debates whether to help out an old friend whose home was invaded; Danny and Baez investigate the suspicious circumstances surrounding the death of a hotel employee. (The episode is called "Vested Interests" which get it? cause Vest? Ha)

Strike Back (Cinemax): Novis is forced to cooperate with Topel and Danny as Spencer gives the squad an ultimatum; After an explosive standoff with Zayef and Mahir, Spiegel threatens to blow the lid off of Section 20's Tel Aviv operations.  (I should watch this show sometime just so I know what i'm typing up here with these episode synopsis)

Real Time with Bill Maher (HBO): More guests!!!! More Bantering!!!! More politically charged one liners!!!! (I don't know who the guests are---Amadeus????)

11:00

High Maintenance (HBO): A shy sneaker head named Alvin gets a new challenge when he spends the day with his cousin; the Guy attends a dinner party hosted by an old friend named Jackson, and realizes that he might be out of his element as the night progresses. ("You're Out Of Your Element Donnie!!!!")

HAVE A GREAT WEEKEND ONE AND ALL!!!!
