Jeopardy! recap for Wed., Mar. 4

Here are today's contestants:

- Margaret, a health policy analyst from Massachusetts, swam across Walden Pond;
- Paul, an attorney from Georgia, writes with a sustainable fountain pen; and
- Mike, a writer from Illinois, became a varsity fencer thanks to a great coach. Mike entered the game as a one-day champ with winnings of $26,600.

Margaret benefited from a late ruling reversal, after which Paul had a chance to take the lead on DD3 but didn't bet enough, so Margaret held first place into FJ with $12,400 vs. $11,000 for Paul and $7,200 for Mike.

DD1, $600 - AMERICA'S RICHEST SELF-MADE WOMEN - Pleasant Rowland started this historical brand when she couldn't find suitable dolls for her nieces (On the last clue of the round, Mike won $1,000 from his leading total of $5,000. If Mike had gone all-in here as is recommended for first-round DDs, he might have had enough going into FJ to win the game.)

DD2, $1,200 - SCIENCE - It's the point in the orbit of the Moon when it is farthest from the Earth (Margaret, after initially being ruled incorrect, had a total of $4,800 added to her score to lead with $12,000 vs. $8,000 for Paul immediately before Paul's DD3 wager.)

DD3 - $2,000 - ANCIENT GREEK & ROMAN ARCHITECTURE - Similar to a Roman circus, this was an ancient Greek racecourse for horses & chariots (Paul, trailing Margaret by $4,000 very late in the round, added $3,000 to his total of $8,000.)

FJ - 20TH CENTURY ARTISTS - This artist who lived from 1904 to 1989 had a first name that means "savior" in Spanish

Paul and Mike were correct on FJ, with Paul adding $10,000 to win with $21,000.

Triple Stumper of the day: No one knew the creator of the George Washington-cherry tree fable immortalized in art was Parson Weems.

Not-so-live from Culver City: The players missed "SNL" movie clues related to one from 1993 with Dan Aykroyd as a not-really-French character, "Coneheads", and didn't know the performer who played Stuart Smalley, Al Franken.

Judging the writers: If a category title is so long you have to use a tiny font size to fit it on the board, figure out some way to make the title shorter so it's easier to read and quicker to say.

Correct Qs:
DD1 - What is American Girl?
DD2 - What is apogee? (Margaret said "apex" which was eventually accepted.)
DD3 - What is Hippodrome?
FJ - Who was Dali?
