Jeopardy! recap for Fri., Mar. 6

Let's meet today's contestants:

- Mahesh, an international development specialist from Virginia, was on Canadian game show "Just Like Mom" at age 9;
- Lynn, a screenwriter from California, wore a Harry Potter robe to school; and
- Paul, an attorney from Georgia, knows what an "insurrectionist" is. Paul entered the game as a two-day champ with winnings of $38,199.

Mahesh made a tiny bet from first place when correct on DD2, leaving to door open for Paul to take the lead away into FJ with $12,400 vs. $11,600 for Mahesh and $11,000 for Lynn.

DD1, $800 - BRITISH POLITICS - Since 2016 Baroness Evans of Bowes Park has been the leader of this body  (Mahesh won $3,200 on a true DD.)

DD2, $1,600 - MUSICALS - The protagonist of this musical writes himself letters, hence the name of the show (Mahesh won $400 from his score of $9,600 vs. $7,600 for Paul.)

DD3 - $1,200 - THE SAINTS - Legend says around 300 A.D. this small European republic was founded by a saintly man & his followers & it still bears his name today (Paul won $2,000 from his score of $6,400 vs. $10,800 for Mahesh.)

FJ - 21st CENTURY MOVIES - After its initial release in 2016, it became the first major motion picture to be dubbed in Tahitian

Paul and Mahesh were correct on FJ, with Paul adding $10,801 to win with $23,201 for a three-day total of $61,400. Mahesh only bet $801, apparently counting on both opponents to miss or wager little or nothing.

Clue selection strategy: With time clearly running out in DJ, Paul had a $800 lead over Mahesh and chose a $1,600 clue to end the round. Paul would have been better served to pick a remaining $400 clue and not give Mahesh a chance to regain first place going into FJ.

Triple Stumper of the day: No one figured out the 6-letter word for "frankness" with the postal abbreviation for North Dakota in the middle, surrounded by those of two West Coast states, is candor.

One more thing: This game included the 12th clue presented by Young Sheldon over the past two years.

Correct Qs:
DD1 - What is the House of Lords?
DD2 - What is "Dear Evan Hansen"?
DD3 - What is San Marino?
FJ - What is "Moana"?
