Hello everyone---Hopefully Amadeus is happy that i finally gave a PBS show Top Pick tonight--a PBS show that's not Antiques Roadshow for once that is! This is What's On for February 17th 2020
8:00
The Neighborhood (CBS): After Cedric enjoys attending a hockey game with Dave, Malcolm and Marty wonder if Dave may actually be rubbing off on Cedric after all this time together; Tina decides to enjoy the perks that come with her stardom when she's mistaken for an A list celebrity. (I guess its time to play "who does Ticha Arnold look enough like to be mistaken for???" here) (Also i think "Family Matters" must've surely done a "Carl starts to act like Urkel" episode once right?)
America's Got Talent (NBC): The ultimate champion is crowned in this winter edition's finale.
9-1-1 Lone Star (FOX): A ride share trip goes awry; a farming accident; a memorial service takes a turn for the worse; Own unexpectedly bonds with the former captain; Marjan and the crew help Mateo to try and pass his written exams. (Forget all the stunt work that goes into staging the various accident scenes--I wanna know more about this written exam the guy has to study for!)
The Bachelor (ABC): Peter joins the 4 remaining bachelorettes in their respective hometowns, only to have their families question his intentions, a surprise threatens a relationship. (Uhhh you're seeing a whole camera crew arrive in your house alongside this guy, and you're only just questioning the guy's intentions now??? I mean you guys own a tv right?)
All American (The CW): Spencer must prove to Billy and Grace that he's not pushing himself before he's ready; Layla is excited about her and Coop's music but Coop is distracted about what is going on in their streets; Olivia turns to Billy for help. ("Out here in the streets....I fight for my meals...I don't need to be excited about recording music????")
Antiques Roadshow (PBS): The Roadshow crew visits the Crocker Art Museum where they see the Babes in Toyland soldiers from 1934, a game bat designed by Joe Dimaggio; a Remleid Paul Silver
Strong box circa 1670
Washington (History): Part 2 of this miniseries that brings Jeff Daniels back to the role of Washington continues with "Rebel Commander" As the American colonies make their final break, their newly minted commander in chief receives hes that he's been handed a nearly impossible task in fighting the most powerful armed force in the world with an undisciplined ragtag group of soldiers. (So its "Heartbreak Ridge" then basically)
2020 American Rescue Dog Show (Hallmark) Not A Movie Airing Tonight in the prime-time hours!
8:30
Bob Hearts Abishola (CBS): Dottie, Auntie Olu, and Uncle Tunde must find a way to reconcile when they're forced to eat dinner together after their argument in a previous episode; Bob and Abishola have differing opinions on the progress of their relationship. (Well at least they're both in agreement that they're having a relationship--that's something right?)
9:00
All Rise (CBS): Judge Lola's world spins out of control when she presides over the trial of Emily's client who rejects the rule of law and seizes control of the courtroom. (Didn't this literally happen in the show's pilot episode??? Are they that out of ideas already???) (The episode is called "My Fair Lockdown")
Prodigal Son (FOX): When a body is found professionally preserved and embalmed, the NYPD teams up with Edrisa to go under cover at a convention of funeral directors; Martin revisits his past thru a series of hallucinations. (Martin revisiting his past thru a series of dreams and hallucinations is a common enough occurrence here that it probably doesn't need to be its own plotline--that said, it is nice that Keiko Agina is getting to step up and be the center of an episode!)
Black Lightning (The CW): Rerun episode from December (its the one that had Jennifer running into 3 different alternate versions of herself--which was a good showcase for Jennifer and the young actress who plays her)
No Passport Required (PBS): The Portugese, Brazilian, and Cape Verdean culinary traditions in Boston. (So Boston is explored!)
The New Pope (HBO): A confrontation with Spalletta leads Brannox to deliver some unwelcome news to Voiello; Sofia learns what her husband has been keeping from her; Voiello ties up loose ends; Ester expands her business; Brannox agrees to a live TV interview. (Developments!)
Brain Games (Nat Geo): Mark Cuban joins host Keegan Michael Key for various brain games. (or something?)
Gomer Pyle (MeTV): He is assigned to pick up General Punctual Pete Prescott but somehow gets distracted along the way. (Gomer Pyle Distracted??? Why I Never would believe such things!!!)
10:00
Bull (CBS): Bull assists in the murder trial defense of an old friend who is a professional gambler accused of killing her wealthy father in order to gain her inheritance. (How many old friends does Bull have exactly???? Also if you remember back a season or two ago, he had an old college roommate whom he had to defend on an Indian tribal reservation for defrauding a casino--that was actually a good one, and that person was actually an old friend too--one never mentioned again but still!)
Manifest (NBC): The passengers of 828 come to understand the meaning of their callings; Afraid of losing his daughters to the believers, Ben confronts Adrian; Zeke challenges Michaela's trust; and Saanvi seeks help from an old flame. (nods) (I always thought the meanings of the callings were pretty self evident--save people from either being harmed, or causing harm--i mean there being a greater meaning was always kind of irrelevant right?)
The Good Doctor (ABC): Despire everyone else's doubts, Shaun is hopeful that Carly is truly fine with his friendship with Lea (good luck there guy!); The team treats a young boy born without a fully formed trachea who may be a good candidate for an experimental procedure. (He may be a good doctor, but he is also a good friend, and maybe a slightly foolish boyfriend!)
Independent Lens (PBS): "We Believe In Dinosaurs"---The building of a 120 million Noah's Ark at the Creation Museum in Williamstown Kentucky; an exhibit designed to prove the Bible's accuracy. (This sounds like a project Ned Flanders would undertake on a late era Simpsons episode honestly)
McMillion$(HBO): Frank Colombo reveals how Uncle Jerry would sell the winning tickets to his brother, Gennaro Jerry Colmbo for a premium; the undercover FBI video crew interviews a winner who tries to obscure the origins of her million dollar game ticket. (We have to investigate the oranges of the McDonald's Monopoly Scratch-off game here!)
Spy Games (Bravo): The Assessors push the competitors past their physical and mental limits in an endurance test with a challenge taking a dangerous turn; the front runner cracks under the pressure. (So exactly like the Democratic Primary then yes?) (ohh topical!)
Beyond the Unknown (Travel): Dozens of perfectly preserved mummies in Mexico; an intriguing case of Yeti evidence (Soo...Yevidence???); and the world's most famous UFO conspiracy in Roswell New Mexico. (Roswell New Mexico???? Never heard of it!!!)
Midnight:
Carter (WGN): Once again airing at the much coveted timeslot of midnight is this solid comedic procedural--- "Sam has to go undercover at a fancy country club to prevent a diamond heist" The episode is called "Harley Gets A Hole In One" (So WGN is just determined to burn this show off I guess seeing as how they've been airing new episodes out of the primetime spot that it had originally been designated for--How bad could it possibly be doing for them to get bumped for reruns of Last Man Standing honestly??? Is it doing that badly???)
WELL I HOPE YOU HAVE A GOOD WORKWEEK AHEAD OF YOU!!! I'LL SEE YOU ALL TOMORROW HOPEFULLY!
