Jeopardy! recap for Mon., Feb. 3

Here are today's contestants:

- Travis, a management consultant from Pennsylvania, watched an alarming basketball game;
- Stephen; a physician from Georgia, was more worried about his Jeopardy! appearance than his wedding; and
- Michelle, a managing director from Delaware, wrote a clean bagel limerick. Michelle entered the game as a two-day champ with winnings of $30,122.

Stephen broke even on the two DDs he found in DJ, as he held onto a narrow lead going into FJ with $14,800 vs. $11,000 for Travis and $4,400 for Michelle.

DD1, $600 - STATE OF THE ESTATE - The Pabst Mansion (Michelle lost $1,800 from her total of $2,800.)

DD2, $1,600 - SCIENCE - An atom or molecule that has an unpaired electron is called by this "liberated" name & can damage your cells (Stephen took the lead by adding $2,000 to his score of $2,800.)

DD3, $2,000 - THE THIRTY YEARS' WAR - The 1648 peace deal had Spain recognize the independence of this North Sea nation, ending both the Thirty & Eighty Years' Wars (Stephen lost $2,000 from his total of $15,600 vs. $11,000 for Travis.)

FJ - ASIAN GEOGRAPHY - This 150- by 2.5-mile area created in 1953 is now home to more than 100 endangered & protected species

Only Travis was correct on FJ, adding $3,801 to win with $14,801. Although it worked out for him, the better percentage play for Travis would have been to bet less than $2,200 to shut out Michelle.

Triple Stumper of the day: No one could identity a photo of CNN host Jake Tapper.

Pedantry corner: A clue looking for the Arizona state firearm by Colt wanted the .45, but the actual name of the weapon is Colt Single Action Army, which is a .45 Colt caliber firearm.

Correct Qs:
DD1 - What is Wisconsin?
DD2 - What is a free radical?
DD3 - What is the Netherlands?
FJ - What is the DMZ?
