Hello....This is what's on for January 23rd 2019
Streaming:
PICARD (CBS ALL ACCESS): Capt Jean Luc Picard Lives!!!!! (well i mean he was never actually dead in the show--but still HE LIVES AND HAS NEW ADVENTURES!!!) (This would've been a big, big, big deal to 8th and 9th grade era me as I was a ginormous Next Gen fan at that age--I used to love the show sooo much you guys!)
October Faction (Netflix): New show is about two married monster hunters who tangle with evil and with family drama as they are the parents to teenage twins. (Based on a comic book series) Starring Tamara Taylor (aka Cam from Bones) (she was Bones' boss); and J.C MacKenzie
The Ghost Bride (Netflix): This Taiwanese/Malaysian drama concerns a woman who accepts a deal from a wealthy family to be a "ghost bride" to their deceased son, which would put her family out of debt but keep her tied to a husband who literally doesn't exist anymore; the woman ends up becoming involved in a murder mystery (I'm guessing her ghost husband died under mysterious circumstances)
The Red Shadows (Sundance Now): Also premiering is this Italian drama about the search for a 10 year old girl who is abducted in 1993 and sparks an obsession to find her that spans 25 plus years in her sister.
Broadcast
8:00
Young Sheldon (CBS): CBS is in rerun mode for the night so we got a rerun here of an episode from October where "Sheldon takes matters into his own hands when Meemaw refuses to drive him to a lecture" (If i remember right this culminates in his grandma spanking him...did "Leave It To Beaver" have a character spanking its title character???)
Superstore (NBC): Amy tries to make Mateo her new assistant which leads to accusations of favoritism and a group competition in the store; Sandra gets caught in a power struggle between Glenn and Dina; Jonah attempts to show Garrett that he's still one of the guys. (Still??? When was he ever one of the guys??? I mean he and Garrett are friends, but he was never exactly a warehouse kinda guy)
Last Man Standing (FOX): Mike tries to avoid hurting Vanessa's feelings due to her snoring; Mandy goes overboard preparing for the arrival of Kristen and Ryan's new baby. (Awww she cares!) (Also since when does Mike care about other people's feelings??? I know its his wife and he loves her but still)
Station 19 (ABC): Season 3 of the Grey's Anatomy's spin-off set at a fire station that you didn't even know was still a thing that was on the air returns tonight with a much promoted crossover episode with its mothership. "After a car crashes into Joe's Bar, Andy and Sullivan lead the team of firefighters as they work to rescue people before its building comes crumbling down" (That poor bar!!!!)
Supernatural (The CW): Sam and Dean hit the road to help out an old friend, but it appears that their luck may have finally run out and they are the ones who may be in need of a rescue. (nods) (this is most likely what i'm gonna be watching in the hour for the record with CBS in reruns)
Grown-ish (Freeform): The crew tries their best to cope with a shocking surprise but another unexpected bomb sends Zoey into a spiral. (Its always the unexpected ones that shock ya)
Restaurant Impossible (Food): If you are at all familiar with this show, you're in luck as there are THREE new episodes airing back to back to back starting at 8. (shrugs) I don't know either, but i'm sure they're out there somewhere!
Love In Paradise (Hallmark): Luke Perry (RIP) stars in this one about an actor who makes a lot of Westerns visiting a Montana ranch only for the woman who runs it to realize that he's actually a city slicker who knows nothing about the realities of being a cowboy. (You might even say he doesn't know anything about "The Cowboy Way" right? right? you guys remember that movie???) Emanuelle Vaugier, Tom Butler, and Matt Fewer (ooh Matt Frewer!!!) co-star.
8:30
The Unicorn (CBS): Rerun of the episode where Gracie gets the lead in the school musical which leads Wade to realize that she's been getting special treatment in school because the girl cannot sing. (Its actually a really cute episode even tho the synopsis kinda indicates otherwise)
The Good Place (NBC): The group makes some new friends. (This Is The Penultimate Episode You Guys!!!!) (Also the episode is titled "Patty")
Outmatched (FOX): New sitcom premiering tonight about Jason Biggs and Maggie Lawson playing a married couple with 3 kids all of whom are certified geniuses and also drive them both nuts. (There is no way this is a hit right?) (It's also got Tisha Campbell and Finesse Mitchell co-starring---FINESSE MITCHELL'S BACK BABY!!!!!!) (He may deserve better than this crappy sounding show but we'll see I guess)
Everything's Gonna Be OK (Freeform): Matilda wants to get "white girl wasted" (been there sister!); Genevieve's low key birthday party leaves Nicholas, Alex, and Matilda banished to the guest house; In the main house Tellulah turns things up a notch while Nicholas is stuck being the responsible adult. (I don't know either)
9:00
Young Sheldon (CBS): Yet another rerun of this show airs tonight this time its the episode where Dr. Sturgis is released from the mental hospital and unexpectedly breaks up with Meemaw. (Awwww)
Will and Grace (NBC): When Cousin Larry (ha!) warns the titular duo about the difficult entry process into the elite school they want their kids to go to, they set out to prove that their children would be a better candidate. (Just to be clear, neither of their kids are born yet) Jack meanwhile creates problems between Karen and her body buddy (????)
Deputy (FOX): While enforcing an unsanctioned raid on a human trafficking ring in LA, Bill finds an old informant of his who is in trouble; Charlie is assigned to patrol with Joseph, the one person she would like to avoid; Jerry does Bill a favor. (That favor? You guess it--Frank Stallone!) (nods) (I don't care if that doesn't make any sense damnit!!!)
Grey's Anatomy (ABC): Moving back down an hour is this venerable Thursday night staple. "Following the car crash over at Joe's Bar and the rescue efforts led by Station 19, Grey Sloane works thru the night to save their colleagues; Amelia worries about sharing her pregnancy revelations with Link. (That's right Amelia's love interest is the former star from The Legend of Zelda--Hey good for him for getting work again!!!)
Legacies (The CW): The witches of the Salvatore School come together to celebrate Coven Day--a monster infiltrates the school and creates chaos among the covens; Landon asks Hope to give him self defense training; Alaric's past comes back to haunt him. (To be fair this whole "monster infiltrates the school and creates chaos" thing seems to be a thing that happens a lot on this show, just by going by the various plot summaries of it that i've been typing up over the past couple of months)
Project Runway (Bravo): Collaborations between designers and artists are all the rage when the designers get a chance to enter into one with painter Ashley Longshore, whose outrageous pop art gives the runway some of the boldest looks of the season. (Oh Ok)
The Bold Type (Freeform): Speaking of bold (I love it when one plot summary leads into the next) This drama returns for a 4th season tonight (!!!!!) "Scarlet reels over their new dynamic forcing everyone to adjust; Jane tries to cope with the changes to Jacqueline's new role at the magazine; Sutton takes stock of her position at Scarlet's as Richard considers a world outside of it." (This sounds like it should all be good for fans of the show right maybe???)
Gomer Pyle (MeTV): Gomer and Carter look for a live motor shell that Gomer misplaced. (Ohh that Gomer--i just realized that Gomer is one letter off from Homer!)
Swamp People (History) This show about the Swamp People returns for an 11th season tonight. 11!!!! That's a lot of years worth of episodes about the origins of Swamp Thing. (What do you mean its got nothing to do with Swamp Thing???)
Alaska State Troopers (Nat Geo)
Reclaimed (Discovery)
7 Worlds 1 Planet (BBC): New nature docu series tonight chronicling Australia! (nods)
9:30
Mom (CBS): Rerun of the season opener with Bonnie away on her honeymoon with Adam (and letting everything that isn't perfect drive her nuts); and Christy making adjustments to Adam's bar while he's away which don't exactly go over well with Adam's usual clientele. (Wait does this mean CBS isn't rerunning Carol's Second Act??? That's kind of a bad sign for that show's future right?)
Perfect Harmony (NBC): THIS IS THE SEASON FINALE (and most likely the series finale) "With the regional choir competition in Lexington, Arthur relishes the opportunity to finally stick it to his old rival when the unexpected happens; Presented with a surprise job offer, Ginny doubts her worth before her interview; and Adams moves on. (Hey they finally made it to regionals!!! Wait that was Glee)
10:00
Gayle King Grammy Special (CBS): They couldn't think of a better title than that??? She interviews a bunch of Grammy nomniees including Gwen Stefani who literally has a hit show on NBC so why is she on CBS??? Hmmmmm (eyebrow raise)
Law and Order Special Victims Unit (NBC): Rerun of the season opener which was their Harvey Weinstein take with Ian McShane as a Weinstein like figure accused of rape. (Hey this rerun is now officially topical!!!!)
A Million Little Things (ABC): Also sliding down an hour on ABC's Thursday schedule is this drama which returns tonight with the second half of its season "In the aftermath of Delilah and Eddie's revelation about their affair, Sophie continues to rebel against her mother; Maddie, Gary, and the gang gather for the opening of Danny's play; Rome and Regina take steps towards adopting a baby." (Its always something with you Million Little Things people!) (No its actually a pretty sweet show--i bingedwatched most of it over the December break and it was surprisingly engaging, if not a little depressing, its a little more like "Thirtysomething" than "This Is Us" for the record)
Building Off the Grid (Discovery)
Supernanny (Lifetime): Did you guys know this was back and airing new episodes but now on Lifetime??? Its been here for a couple weeks now, but i keep forgetting to list it. So wonder no more at what ever happened to tv's beloved Supernanny! Wonder No More!
HAVE A GOOD THURSDAY YOU GUYS--THE WEEKEND'S ALMOST HERE!!!! ALMOST!!!
