What's On Tonight (Thursday): Last Man Standing Keeps On Standing

Happy New Year's Everybody (because I didn't get to say it to you all yesterday!) Even tho we're officially in the new year, the networks are still mostly in rerun mode tho Fox is premiering some new stuff tonight. This is What's On for January 2nd 2020. (I almost wrote 2010 there---i forget--new decade!)

8:00

Young Sheldon (CBS): CBS tonight is rerunning the first two episodes of the season back to back tonight (No Unicorn tonight! I wonder if that's a sign perhaps) The first one was pretty good--it had Sheldon's mom worrying that he may have a mental breakdown the way that Dr. Sturgis (aka Sheldon's mentor) did in the future, and Georgie trying to go into business by selling off these dollar store snowglobes for 5 dollars! (Big mark-up there Georgie!) The second episode involves Sheldon trying to find a replacement college course for the one that Dr. Sturgis used to teach and trying out Ed Begley Jr's college course instead, and the B story there involves Pastor Jeff turning to Missy (of all people) for advice on how to play it cool with his new love interest.

Superstore (NBC): Also running back to back rerun episodes tonight is this show which runs an episode from November (Mateo runs a toy drive and goes up against mean Fred Armisen who keeps taking business away from him and Garrett tries to hide his getting dumped by Colleen from Dina for some reason--pride maybe?) and an episode from December (Literally the only episode they ran in December which had Sandra and Jonah going to negotiate with corporate on behalf of the workers' rights because they dared to form a union)

Last Man Standing (FOX): The Tim Allen sitcom returns for an 8th season (you read that right!) with back-to-back episodes (is that why CBS and NBC are running back to back episodes of their 8 o'clock shows???)               In episode 1 "Mike helps Vanessa deal with her new feelings of empty-nest syndrome after Mandy and Kyle move out; and Kristen announces that she's pregnant causing Mandy to feel jealous or something"
In episode 2 "Mike and Chuck plan to go into business together opening a classic car restoration service but then Joe (Jay Leno) wants in on the business and Mike's not sure how he feels about that (cause Joe is a bit of a screw-up); Vanessa catches Mandy tricking Kyle and also isn't sure how she feels about that but doesn't wanna butt into their marriage"

What Is Jeopardy? Alex Trebek and America's Most Popular Quiz Show (ABC): An interview with Trebek and his wife, as well as a look at the most popular quiz show in America (Wheel of Fortune doesn't count as a quiz show right?) There will also most likely be a sneak peak at the upcoming tournament that is taking place in primetime next week!

Supernatural (The CW): Rerun of the current season premiere with literally all hell breaking loose (If you remember the cliffhanger from last season, you get that reference!)

9:00

Mom (CBS): Rerun from last May has Bonnie confronting her procrastination problem (something I know nothing about surely); and Christy finally landing an internship at a law firm but its not at all what she expected it to be like. (Few things are Christy, few things are)

The Paley Centers Presents A Salute To SVU (NBC): The fabled Paley Center honors the cast and crew of Law and Order Special Victims Unit on their 20 years on the air.

Deputy (FOX): This brand new series debuts tonight! Starring Stephen Dorff this show is about what happens when the lawman sheriff of a small town is suddenly made head of the Los Angeles County Sheriffs Department and thrust into a larger world the small town lawman must learn how to quickly adjust while keeping his lawman wits and ways about him. "While unfamiliar with navigating the world of big city politics, the lawman soon learns that doing what is right and what is expected aren't always the same thing, but relying on his instinct for pursuing justice will always serve him well no matter where he hangs his hat" (Who wrote that?!?!? It is not doing the show any favors here!!!)  David Ayer apparently wrote and directed the pilot, and is an exec producer of the show.

The Great American Bake Off (ABC): More Baking-- More Offing. (AMERICA!!!!!)

Legacies (The CW): Rerun of the season premiere

Project Runway (Bravo): In "The Ultimate Upcycle" Guest judge Karla Welch tasks the designers with dressing her client Karlie Kloss, the designers must recycle donated clothing from a Goodwill store to create new looks, and they must be both resourceful and fast for the one day challenge presented them. (Better clothing donated from Goodwill than clothing from Goodyear! Am i right? Cause you know Goodyear is a tire store so any clothing from them would more than likely be made out of rubber)

American Pickers (History): Mike stumbles upon a one of a kind 1939 Cadillac Madam X with a steep price tag, Frank puts it all on the line for a pair of Indian motorcycles, Mike tries to make the math work on a collection of vintage motorcycles. (The same motorcycles???)

Surviving R. Kelly (Lifetime): Back for a 2nd season is this reality show which I honestly thought was a miniseries and not an ongoing thing. More messed up things that the singer wanted various women (most of whom were underaged) to do are disclosed or so I would imagine that to be the case.

Restaurant Impossible (Food): Chefs at a restaurant are challenged!!!!

Gomer Pyle (MeTV): Gomer predicts the weather with more accuracy than the weather service. Shenanigans ensue.   (Local idiot predicts weather--Film at 11!)

9:30

Carol's Second Act (CBS): When the interns are overworked and overtired, Carol tries to find ways to motivate them to keep going using techniques she learned back when she was a mom. (What do you mean was a mom? as the show likes to remind us all--she's still a mom!)

Green Acres (MeTV): Lisa offers her engagement ring to Eb and Darlene to try and salvage their relationship. (That Lisa I tells ya--she's so sweet!)

10:00

Evil (CBS): Another rerun gets shown, this one involving David investigating the sigil on his dad's quilt or something.

Law and Order SVU (NBC): Another rerun, this one involving a guy who believes a stranger is trying to molest his daughter. (Trying???)

Carbonaro Effect (Tru TV): at an appliance store, Michael blends juices with a sticker; Then at a pet shop he reverses the food chain (ha ha???): and then at a doggy spa, an old dog learns new tricks when a rejuvenation machine turns back time. (If I Could Turn Back Time....I Might Not Watch This Show...)

Beat Bobby Flay (Food): Michael Symon gets help from Bethany Frankel of all people as he tries to take on Bobby; Chefs Kevin Wilson and Andrew Wilson (brothers???) also then try to take Bobby on.  (If I Could Reach The Stars....I'd Give Them All To Youuu.....If I Could Beat That Bobby)

HAVE A GOOD THURSDAY ONE AND ALL!!!
