Hey guys...here is what's on for January 20th 2020 (1/20/20!)
8:00
The Neighborhood (CBS): Tina spends time with the charming new minister she helped select for her church, Cedric suspects the man may be coveting more than just job security; Marty gets a surprise when he meets his disruptive new upstairs neighbor. (Is it Frank Stallone?!?!?!? What--Marty would be surprised by that! Marty would also probably not know who Frank Stallone is but that's a different plotline--ooh that could be a plotline--"Marty gets irritated when his upstairs neighbor won't stop trying to tell him about his days as a B movie star") ("Look i don't know who you are, i wasn't even born yet when you were in these movies!!!")
America's Got Talent (NBC): 10 more acts perform for the judges--4 advance and 1 gets saved by "the golden buzzer" which means that 5 of these acts will get gonged. (This show doesn't use a gong does it?)
9-1-1 Lone Star (FOX): The crew faces a mercury poisoning outbreak and a wave pool disaster; Own must come to terms with his illness; Michelle follows a new lead on her missing sister; and TK is unsure of how to handle his budding relationship with Carlos. (I love how this show which only just debuted is coming in hot with plotlines for all these people whom we don't know anything about yet)
The Bachelor (ABC): Peter tries to focus on his upcoming country line dancing date with Victoria P; a revelation has Peter struggling with feelings towards a controversial woman. (Controversial?!?!?!? On The Bachelor?!?!?!? Why I Never)
All American (The CW): Dillon is mad that Spender hasn't been around, so Spencer tries to make it up to him; Coop is shook when faced with Tyrone, but luckily she has Preach in her corner; Billy tries to force Jordan and Olivia to hang out with him and make some memories. (You can't just force someone to hang out with you--unless they're your kids I suppose)
Antiques Roadshow (PBS): Winterhur Museum Part 3 has the crew appraising an 1820 JJ Audubon portrait, a Ming Dynasty Xiwargame figure, and a Ric Binkley science fiction illustration.
Brain Games (Nat Geo): This trivia centered questions and answers show returns tonight (I never knew it existed before but its nice to know there is one of these on somewhere) with married couple Dax Shepard and Kristen Bell facing off in a "Battle of the Sexes" game which will take a look at the differences between how men and women answer trivia questions. (There are differences??? Its either you know the answer or you don't right?)
8:30
Bob Hearts Abishola (CBS): Abishola does not appreciate it when Bob gives her unsolicited parenting advice about her unhappy son. (Well its nice that he cares about him, too often he's been relegated to a non-entity who's only been seen for a minute or two in the episodes he's been in--one of them was alongside Bob tho so at least they know each other!) (The episode is called "Canadians of Africa")
9:00
All Rise (CBS): Judge Lola travels to Washington to help her ex husband land an important job at the FBI; Mark and Amy Quinn's relationship heats up as Amy tries to put together a winning defense for Vic Callan's murder case. (Aka--Mark's dad--who is played by Major Crimes' Tony Dennison!) (The episode is called "What the Bailiff Saw") (Also did we know that Judge Lola was married? I've never heard a reference to her having a husband before)
Prodigal Son (FOX): Returning to the schedule with new episodes is this show where "The NYPD and FBI must band together to save Malcolm from the Junkyard Killer (he was kidnapped by the killer at the tail end of the fall finale); As Gil looks for answers from The Surgeon, Ainsley and Jessica search for their memories of the past hoping to find clues about where Malcolm could've been taken to." (Well i mean he is the star of the show, so I gotta assume that Malcolm will be fine, but still you never know, this show could decide to throw out a major curveball in the middle of its first season)
Black Lightning (The CW): Jefferson investigates the new reality following the events of the Red Wave; Lynn's determination to save the meta kids deepens her troubles; Anissa/Blackbird faces new challenges; Jennifer's bond with Brendon begins to grow. (First post Crisis episode of this show, but honestly nothing that happened there should have any effect on this show except now Black Lightning is you know part of the CW equivalent of the Justice League, but maybe I'm wrong in that nothing changed--i mean now the worlds know whom the various superheros on the other shows are)
No Passport Required (PBS): Exploring the Armenian community in LA including its history and traditional food. (mmm food!)
The Two Popes (HBO): Vioello, Guiterrez, Assente, Aquirre, and Sofia all travel to the UK estate of Sir John Brannox, hoping to convince him to return with them to the Vatican, and accept the holiest of roles, Ester shares her son's story with the press to make ends meet. (Good for Ester, get that media money girl!!!) (I don't know who these people are outside of this synopsis)
Spy Games (Bravo): New reality show where 10 people must band together to live out their spy fantasies and attempt to win a game of espionage, based on a WW2 spy program, competitors must affiliate a black tie gala and find a contact after spending 24 hours surviving in the woods. (shrugs)
American Pickers (History): Danielle's 10th anniversary with Antiques Archeology spurs a surprise party for Mike when she turns the milestone into a major league event complete with a Hollywood ending. (nods)
Brain Games (Nat Geo): A 2nd episode of this show airs this time with "Ted Danson-Fact or Fiction?" (Ted Danson!!!) "Becker learns how human brains distinguish fact from fiction" (Oh i bet Becker has a rant or two about that!) (Matthew--he's not anything like Becker in real life--that was a character he played on a sitcom) (But he was Becker for 6 seasons!!!!)
Amazing Winter Romance (Hallmark): Your Hallmark Channel Movie of the Night is this one which is both making its premiere tonight and is airing at a slightly later time for some reason. "Julia who is a journalist (she is!) goes back home to find inspiration and discover her childhood friend has built a giant snow maze, prompting her to find her way to her true love." With Marshall Williams, Jessy Schram, and Zoe Fish. (A giant snow maze causes a journalist to find her true love??? Who are the people who come up with these plotlines and how can i become one of them???)
Gomer Pyle (MeTV): Carter volunteers Gomer for a parachute jump and then suffers conscience pangs.
9:30
Green Acres (MeTV): Oliver asks his former secretary Carol to locate a jeweler for him. ("The Ex Secretary")
10:00
Bull (CBS): Chunk's friend Reggie, an elite boarding school's counselor asks Bull to help the parents of an athletic scholarship student brings a wrongful death suit against the school after the teen dies suddenly while training. (I'm fully expecting there to be some sort of twist there where the school tries to appoint a fall guy so that they don't have to take the hit with the lawsuit)
Manifest (NBC): The Stones struggle to unlock their mysterious wave of frightening 828 callings, while the person who may be key to solving them is trapped behind bars; a shocking incident leads Grace to suspect a local mom is in danger. (Aren't all the callfrightening tho??? I mean they come out of nowhere and startle the people having them every single time)
The Good Doctor (ABC): The doctors must treat a 25 year old runner who is suffering from severe swelling; Two 16 year old cancer patients are dating; and Dr. Shaun Murphy and Carly are still trying to work towards intimacy. (Still???)
Independent Lens (PBS): "Accept the Call"--Yusuf Abdurahman who fled Somalia as a refuge to begin a new life in Minnesota, is troubled by his 19 year old son's decision to attempt to join The Islamic State in Syria. (This documentary runs an hour and a half)
Pawn Stars (Hisotry): Rick is in Chicago where he has a run-in with a wrestling legend and a chance to clutch a Michael Jordan championship jersey; Chum looks to score big on a 300 year old violin; a vintage Batman playhouse places Corey and Chum in a betting mood. (Na-na-na-na-na Playhouse!)
Beyond the Unknown (Travel): Don Wildman (That can't possibly be his real name) investigates a ghostly vision from Abraham Lincoln, a monstrous sea creature, and the final resting place of Noah's arc. ("I Am The Ghost Of Abraham Lincoln--For Score And Seven Year Ago--Our Forefathers---Booooooooooooooooooooo")
Carter (WGN): TOP PICK tonight goes to this super kewl somewhat comedic procedural starring Jerry O'Connell as a newly licensed PI (Its kinda like Castle a little bit) which is staring its 2nd season tonight and is pretty darn under the radar--if it wasn't for our own Jasoo continually championing the show, I might not have known about it since its buried over on WGN which doesn't really do original programming as much as it once did. Tonight's episode finds "Harley Carter's first official case as a PI is a kidnapping that offers up a surprise twist" (The episode is called "Harley Wears A Wig")
(For the record Jerry O'Connell is also guest starring on Bravo's Andy Cohen talk show tonight as well)
HAVE A GOOD MARTIN LUTHER KING DAY EVERYONE!!!! WHETHER YOU HAVE OR NOT I THINK WE CAN ALL AGREE HOW IMPORTANT IT IS TO KEEP DREAMING AND/OR HAVING DREAMS BE THEY NON-SENSICAL OR REALITY BASED!
