🍅Table Talk: What are some of your happy food/recipe/drink memories?

Howdy y’all and Happy Sunday 🌺

There is a strong link about foods and our childhood memories. Hearing others talk about xyz food and the memories associated is something I enjoy.

I do a lot of baking/cooking y canning esp and I’m a part of a baker’s guild so I get to hear a lot of great stories. There’s never a get together we have that doesn’t involve someone going down memory lane .

I know there’s tons of examples I can give and I’ve  said this story a lot bcz this was my “ into exotic foods”

I went to Catholic my whole life and both my parents worked so it was common for me to go home with a classmate till one of my parents could pick me up. One of my classmates lived closest to my daddy’s workplace so I tended to be there the most. They were a German family who had immigrated in the late 70s and MrsGerman (Not her name lol ) would pick me and her daughter up after school and head straight for the kitchen to make German style supper. I come from a cooking/baking family but what MrsGerman would bake left me in awe. I had never had marbled rye bread prior and loved the various cold meats she’d put on it with a healthy serving of mustard. It was through her cooking that I started  a life long love of International foods . Alternatively, mama would make sure to have me bring her Cuban style foodstuffs.

Picture : me still making MrsGerman’s  beef rouladen, purple sauerkraut and roasted buttered potatoes.

Question:
