SNL Live Thread 1/25/20: Adam Driver / Halsey

Tonight marks the 3rd time that Kylo Ren hosts (I'm sorry that's Two Time Academy Award Nominee Kylo Ren.) The first time was of course the MLK weekend show back in 2016 which was when Star Wars The Force Awakens had been out in theaters for about a month and had really, really, really upped his profile. That one of course had the instantly famous sketch that parodied Undercover Boss but with Kylo Ren as the boss going undercover. The second time he hosted was the season premiere of 2018 which had the sketch of him as that "There Will Be Blood" type of guy going into his kid's career day at school sketch that i know several people here absolutely loved (and i'd probably cite it as a highlight of last year if they were to do a "best of" from last year's various sketches--do you guys remember when that was an actual thing that they used to do every year? Apparently they used to put out a "Best of" compilation on vhs every summer for each season back in like the mid to late 80s/early 90s--this was of course way before youtube and the internet and various streaming sites let you be able to watch old sketches from the comfort of your own home anytime you'd want, but still some of those old officially released on vhs compilation tapes go for like 30 or 40 bucks used on like amazon or e-bay)

Anyways Halsey is returning to SNL this time as a musical guest only after doing dual hosting and musical guest gigs last February, and she was ok-ish as a host if i remember right. Anyways hopefully tonight will be a good show. I myself am not really up to anything right now. I'm mostly chilling out here in my house catching up on some old tv that i havn't watched yet. I slept most of the day away, but that's largely because i was out super late last night as i did that midnight screening of Cats thing which was exactly what you'd expect it to be like. (I actually thought it was entertaining in a "can you believe they spent so much money on this???" kinda way. It also seem to follow the show from what i remember of the show pretty vividly so aside from the garishness of the costumes, a lot of the problems kinda stemmed directly from the show itself--this is getting away from me tho you didn't want a review of the movie Cats here--you came here for SNL damnit!)

Anyways On With The Show!

(Oh also there is no Vintage SNL airing at least here on the East Coast due to the NHL All Star Hockey Game being aired on NBC--I don't know what they do on the West Coast when that happens tho--Maybe Stegrelo will tell us!)
