Jeopardy! recap for Tue. Jan. 14

Here are today's contestants:

- Marlan, a business analyst from Texas, hosts Jeopardy! at work;
- Alissa, a mom from Texas, studied and had surgery in Chile; and
- Veronica, a librarian from Oregon, is a cat person, but realizes they don't need you. Veronica entered the game as a one-day champ with winnings of $21,999.

Excellent contest in which Veronica hit DD2 and just managed to get the edge into FJ with $17,200 vs. $15,000 for Marlan and $10,600 for Alissa.

DD1, $800 - MYTHOLOGY - Echo's love for this lad was unrequited; he only had eyes for himself  (Marlan won $1,200 on a true DD.)

DD2, $1,600- MUSEUMS - Originally serving as a private gallery of art, the Hermitage Museum was founded by her in 1764 (Veronica won $3,000 from her score of $11,400 vs. $8,600 for Marlan.)

DD3, $1,600 - POEMS' SECOND LINES - Its second line is "Over many a quaint and curious volume of forgotten lore" (Alissa won $4,000 from her third-place total of $5,000 vs. $16,200 for Marlan.)

FJ - WORLD GEOGRAPHY - About the size of West Virginia, Devon Island is the largest uninhabited island in the world & a possession of this country

Veronica and Marlan were correct on FJ, with Veronica adding $12,801 to win by $1 with $30,001 for a two-day total of $52,000. Note that with her $7,500 wager from third place, Alissa gave up her chance at a potential Triple Stumper win.

Triple Stumpers of the day: In a category about triple "b" words, no one knew to mishandle a ball is to bobble, or the clothing article associated with 1940s adolescent girls, bobbysocks.

No harm no foul: For a clue about "this colorful class of small, dim stars", the players guessed brown, white and blue, but no one came up with red dwarfs.

Correct Qs:
DD1 - Who is Narcissus?
DD2 - Who was Catherine the Great?
DD3 - What is "The Raven"?
FJ - What is Canada?
