Jeopardy! recap for Wed., Dec. 25

Please welcome today's contestants:

Robin opened up a lead with a fast start in DJ, but Alex swept all three DDs to take first place into FJ with $21,200 vs. $14,400 for champ Robin and $5,000 for for Kristin.

DD1, $1,000 - HISTORY - Legend says when Columbus saw the 3 mtn. peaks on this Caribbean island he chose to name of for the father, son & holy spirit (Alex won $2,000 from his score of $4,800 vs. $5,000 for Robin.)

DD2 (video), $1,600 - FACE THE AUTHOR - This author based a 1962 novel on personal experience working in a hospital's psychiatric ward (Alex added $6,000 to his total of $9,600 vs. $14,800 for Robin.)

DD3, $2,000 - GOING OUT OF BUSINESS - Sam Mendes directed a theatrical telling of the story of these brothers who built a financial empire that collapsed in 2008 (Alex won $2,000 from his score of $16,800 vs. $15,200 for Robin.)

FJ - ORGANIZATIONS - Founded by students at W&M in 1776; its members include 17 U.S. Presidents, 41 Supreme Court Justices & more than 140 Nobel Laureates

Alex and Robin were correct on FJ, with Alex adding $7,601 to win with $28,801.

Triple Stumper of the day: No one knew the Dustin Hoffman Western epic that was also the name of a real figure in Native American history, "Little Big Man".

Pedantry corner: Even though the last name wasn't included in the clue, the judges accepted a response that only included the character's first name of the TV "Place" owner who lived with Edith, Archie Bunker.
