Jeopardy! recap for Mon., Dec. 23

Introducing today's contestants:

- Jason, a non-profit professional from Georgia, won his wedding in an essay competition;
- Robin, an editor and consultant from Michigan, whose mom won $500 and an encyclopedia on Art Fleming's Jeopardy!; and
- Eric, a bartender from Arizona, has visited 18 national parks and counting. Eric is a two-day champ with winnings of $42,000.

Eric missed two DDs while Robin was incorrect on one, with Robin taking first place into FJ at $14,400 vs. $9,800 for Eric and $5,200 for Jason.

DD1, $400 - RIVERS - Hydroelectric plants & pumping-generating stations on the U.S. & Canadian sides of this river have a 4.8-million kilowatt combined capacity (Eric went into the red after losing the table limit of $1,000.)

DD2, $2,000 - FIGURES OF SPEECHES - From a 1988 speech by a presidential candidate: "A brilliant diversity spread like stars, like" this 5-word phrase (Eric dropped $4,000 from his score of $11,000 vs. $11,400 for Robin.)

DD3, $1,200 - BIG WORDS - Of the 7 Ancient Wonders, the name of this one from the 200s B.C. reflected its huge size (Robin lost $3,000 from her total of $12,600 vs. $7,400 for Eric.)

FJ - BRITISH AUTHORS - In 2016 the OED celebrated his 100th birthday by adding words connected to his writings, including scrumdiddlyumptious

Only Robin was correct on FJ, adding $5,201 to win with $19,601.

Triple Stumper of the day: There was an unusually tricky top-row clue in round one which wanted to know the host of the 2019 Academy Awards, of which there was no host.

Shameless shilling: There was a clip and plug read by Alex for Sony's Christmas release of "Little Women". This proves once again that contestants appearing on episodes that will air shortly before major holidays should take note of movies coming out around that time.

Correct Qs:
DD1 - What is the Niagara?
DD2 - What is "A thousand points of light"?
DD3 - What is the Colossus of Rhodes?
FJ - Who was Dahl?
