What's On Tonight (Tuesday): The Resident Celebrates National Nurses' Day And Disney Plus Launches

Hey All--I'm slowly losing my mind due to bug infestation over here.Got the exterminator coming on Saturday but not soon enough honestly!!! I feel like Sam Jackson in Snakes On A Plane over here, except with creepy crawlies...Anyways here's what's on tonight November 12th 2019

Streaming:

Sooo The Big Huge News Today is that Disney Plus Officially Launches as a stand alone subscription service. There's four new shows being launched alongside it with the Star Wars based program The Mandalorian (starring Pedro Pascal); the already premiered on broadcast to very low ratings "High School Musical: The Musical: The Series" (Ugh),  a new Jeff Goldblume starring program called simply "The World According To Jeff Goldblume"and something called "Encore" (which from what i can gather is a series about people in various drama clubs reuniting after many years away from said drama club--this was based on a couple of specials that aired on ABC that were hosted by Kristen Bell that for some reason is now a series???)

Also being launched alongside the Disney service is a new live action (so CGI talking animals) version of Lady and the Tramp. (What did Disney not think Lady and the Tramp had enough brand name recognition to release in theaters nationwide or something?!?!?!?)

I don't know how this is gonna go, Disney has a lot of existing content on the thing (including The Simpsons!!!) sooo clearly this could be a huge thing for them. Time Will Tell.

Meanwhile On Good Ol' Reliable Broadcast

8:00

NCIS (CBS): While investigating a Marine's murder, the NCIS team uncovers a labyrinth of live streaming spy cameras hidden in the rooms of a Virginia motel. (Ruh-Roh)

The Voice (NBC): The Top 20 Eliminations Rounds continues as 8 artists are deemed safe and the coaches select an artist each to save, the remaining artists from each team have a chance to then compete against one another. (How many judges are on this show again? 4? so 12 are safe then and 8 are competing tonight then??? Just trying to do the math here on a show I never watch)

The Resident (FOX):On National Nurses Day (a real day btw--May 12th for the record) the nurses are severely understaffed and overworked; Cain performs a dangerous surgery on a new patient; Conrad discovers that his father has been administered the same drug that he fears played a role in the death of Nic's sister earlier in the season premiere. (Happy National Nurses Day???)

The Conners (ABC): Jackie and Becky pitch their business plan to Darlene in hopes of getting the Lunch Box back open, but Darlene's decision leads to hostility; Dan bans Odessa from the house causing a rift between him and Harris; Mark makes extensive Thanksgiving Day plans for some reason. (Ohhh Them Conners)

The Flash (The CW): Rerun of the season opener. (Sorry Guys)

Finding Your Roots (PBS): Andy Samberg and George R.R. Martin in a rerun from this past January. (What an odd combination!)

Dear Santa (Lifetime): Amy Acker stars in this Lifetime original from a few years back where she stars as "Crystal a rich party girl finds a little girl's letter to Santa Claus asking for a new mother" (And then what happens??? I'm assuming something happens cause otherwise this thing wouldn't be two hours long)

A Royal Christmas (Hallmark): This perennial Hallmark Channel film finds a Philly seamstress played by Lacey Chabert being romanced by a royal crown prince whose mother played by Jane Seymour doesn't approve. (This feels like the 100th time i've highlighted this one!)

8:30

Bless This Mess (ABC):Donna springs a last minute trip to Nebraska on Mike and Rio which she claims is to relax; Donna steps into competitive mode to get Mike and Rio to help out in the harvest; Constance's son Brandon is driving her crazy so she pawns him off on her boyfriend Rudy. (Makes sense to me)

9:00

FBI (CBS): When a board member of a soon to be public medical tech company is murdered, the team tries to find out who had the most to gain from his death; OA is conflicted when pressure to help a family member is at odds with his own commitment to the truth.

This Is Us (NBC): Rebecca visits Randall in Philly; Beth is troubled by a request from Deja; Kevin has doubts about himself. (Ohhh its another Kevin has to give himself a pep talk episode isn't it?)

Empire (FOX): Candace and Carol take Cookie on a girls trip to Miami; Lucious deals with self reflection; Andrew makes a bold decision regarding Treasure's upcoming album; Giselle goes behind Becky's back to find Tiana a new audience. (Girls Trip Time Baby!)

Mixed-ish (ABC): The kids are excited to learn more about their granddad after Harrison invites the crew to family day at his country club; Alicia attempts to fit in at the country club but ends up fighting with Denise. (Well its nice that Gary Cole likes his family at least right??? That's always good even if he's a pretty stereotypical character right out of an 80s movie)

Arrow (The CW): Rerun of  the season opener. (Sorry Guys)

American Experience (PBS): "The Race Underground"--Engineers overcome challenges to construct America's first subway system in Boston. (First ran in Jan of '17)

The Purge (USA): Ryan, Marcus, Esme, and Ben learn that some lines can't be uncrossed.

Very Ralph (HBO): Ralph Lauren speaks candidly in interview about his childhood, his 5 decades long marriage, and how he built one of the world's most recognizable brands. (With a little help from your friends????)

Curse of Oak Island (History): After years of speculation, new scientific evidence suggests the swamp is man made. (The swamp on Oak Island????)

Chopped (Food): A special Thanksgiving competition themed ep finds the contestants challenged to make a meal out of a surprise poultry based ingredient. (Surprised Poultry Based Ingredient?!?!?!?)

Life Below Zero (Nat Geo)

Bering Sea Gold (Discovery): Nome Alaska is about to be hit by a super winter storm that will close down the harbor; Shawn battles for the life of the Gold King. (????)

9:30

Black-ish (ABC): When Dre realizes that his relationship with Diane has been distant as of late, he plans some daddy-daughter bonding sessions; Bow covers for Junior at his ChoreBoar gig (???)

Green Acres (MeTV): Arnold needs to prove he's the rightful heir to an eccentric tycoon's estate. (We're talking about the pig here right????)

10:00

NCIS New Orleans (CBS): Following a natural gas explosion at a movie theater, the team discovers the gas company has been hacked and more explosions will probably be triggered. (The episode is literally titled "Boom Boom Boom Boom" which is how the show's theme song goes! Also I still can't believe they actually killed off a main character on last week's episode---i mean i was really really reeeeeaaaaallly surprised and saddened!!!!)

New Amsterdam (NBC): Sharpe lands in hot water when she goes out on a limb for a patient; Max's grief comes to a head; Bloom takes a major step in her recovery. (Isn't this the show where every week someone goes out on a limb for a patient tho??? Ohh New Amsterdam---I declare, you've become much too much)

Dolly Parton--Here She Comes Again (ABC): A look at the life and career of the legend featuring never before seen archival interviews and performance footage. (Nice--also this is pre-empting Emergence for a week, but it was on last week when everything else was pre-empted so its only fair I guess)

Frontline (PBS): "Kids Caught In A Crackdown"---An investigation into the widespread consequences and business of mass confinement of migrant children detained under President Trump's immigration policies. (PBS? PBS? PBS?--you know weirdly NCIS New Orleans did an episode a couple weeks back where they found some private companies being farmed out the detainment of migrants children and illegal aliens, and i know it was fictionalized for CBS audiences, but it did leave me wondering how much of that kinda crap is actually happening since we all know the government likes to farm these things out to private contractors)

Treadstone (USA): "The Bentley Lament" Bentley discovers the truth; Doug goes on a dangerous mission; Tara confronts her past. (First thing that comes to mind reading "The Bentley Lament" is my mind immediately goes to the British neighbor on The Jeffersons---i wonder what his lament would be)

Kings of Pain (History): Premiering tonight is this new reality show where these two dudes travel places and expose themselves to venomous animals for some inexplicable reason. "In a Bolivian jungle, Adam and Caveman Rob pursue the fabled executioner wasp, the warrior wasp, and Goliath--a huge tarantula delivering a bit that leaves Adam's arm partially paralyzed. (THIS IS NOT A SHOW FOR ME TO WATCH RIGHT NOW!!!!)

Famously Afraid (Travel): Steve Guttenberg is tormented by the ghost of an eccentric royal; Radio show host (and star of the movie "Who's the Man?") Ed Lover makes a discovery in an abandoned house that he now owns for some reason; and Tori Spelling has a lifesaving encounter from the great beyond. (I freaking love the idea of combining the C list celebs competition format with the paranormal reality show format--really creating some interesting results here that i'm sure couldn't at all be made up a la Mad Libs!)

Running Wild with Bear Grylls (Nat Geo): Joel McHale in Arizona Slot Canyons. (Joel McHale accompanies Bear on a survival trip in the Arizona desert for some reason)

Hogan's Heroes (MeTV): Burkhalter's sister Gertrude becomes the commandant of Stalag 13, and Hogan poses as a Nazi officer in the 10:30 episode.

10:30

The Misery Index (TBS): A bad wedding officiant and someone who phone sexted their own mom (?!?!?!?) battle it out to see who gets a chance at the 30,000 dollar grand prize in "You Better Watch Your Filthy Mouth" (Why do they bother titling these episodes honestly???)

WELL THAT'S ALL SHE WROTE TONIGHT, HAVE A GOOD TUESDAY ONE AND ALL AND I HOPE YOU GUYS HAVE AN ADEQUATE DAY!
