What's On Tonight (Friday): Diners, Drive-Ins, and Dives Celebrates Its 31st Season & Room 104 Has Its Season Finale

Hello all, the day after Thanksgiving usually doesn't offer up too much television but what's here is well here for November 29th 2019 (ALSO I HOPE YOU ALL HAD A GOOD HOLIDAY MEAL EVEN THOSE OF YOU NOT IN AMERICA OR CANADA--So basically Helent) (Hi Helent!!!!) (waves at Helent)

Netflix has a couple of movies premiering but Streaming is largely quiet tonight (mercifully)

"The Atlantics" which is an African movie about a woman in an arranged marriage crushed when her true love goes missing at sea during a migration attempt, but a miracle ends up reuniting them.

"I Lost My Body" which is an animated French film about A severed hand searching the streets of Paris for its owner, intertwining with the story of a young man falling in love. (Hmmm)

They also have a Korean series premiering tonight called "Chocolate" (A doctor and a chef who have shared some lovely meals together in the past are re-acquainted when they begin working in a hospice ward together)

Amazon premieres that Adam Driver movie "The Report" which was written and directed by Scott Z Burns--whom also wrote the Soderbourgh movie "The Informant" (Soderbourgh was a producer on this) (The trailer for it I saw didn't look too inspiring, but I dunno, if you get Amazon its free so why not give it a shot I guess??? The Informant was a heck of a well written movie)

There's also a doc on the resurfacing of Brit tennis player Andy Murray.
And a Christmas Special starring country singer Kasey Musgraves

8:00

Frosty The Snowman/Frosty Returns (CBS): Tonight CBS officially marks the start of the Christmas season TV wise with its first running this year of this annual staple and its decades later follow-up. The original of course features Burl Ives as the voice of Frosty, while the sequel features the dulcet tones of Mr. John Goodman. I feel like we all know the story but those who don't---Snowman Comes To Life With Aid Of Magic Hat! (Did it with 10 words or less!) (Huzzah!) (Is there a different plot in the sequel??? I keep meaning to re-watch it one year and i never do)

National Dog Show (NBC): This Dog Show which usually is broadcast on USA if i remember right eats up two hours of the network's schedule tonight (remember the days when NBC actually reran normal time slot holder The Blacklist??? It happened on occasion--usually to pad out the season, tho it hasn't happened in a good number of seasons now...i think the last time i saw a rerun of it was when it was airing on Thursdays actually which was 3 years ago now.)

American Housewife (ABC): For some reason ABC is opting to run a new episode of this tonight rather than go for a rerun. "Katie and Greg look into her activities to keep them connected as a couple; Anna Kat has her own hurdles to overcome when Franklin shines at square dancing and she fails miserably; Tripp struggles with the idea of Taylor going away to college." (Trip is the lunk-headed boyfriend--and he can just drive to visit her can't he?)

Friday Night Smackdown (FOX): Smackdowns are handed down and passed around and yada yada yada.

Grandma Got Run Over By A Reindeer (The CW): In place of Charmed tonight we have another Christmastime staple (albeit a more recent one) with this hour long animated special based entirely on the song of the same name. ("You can say there's no such thing as reruns, but as for me and CBS we believe")(Cause CBS still regularly runs reruns of their shows is what i'm getting at here)

Top Elf (Nick): Series Premiere of this new series featuring Santa Claus having a competition among kid inventors to see whom can win the coveted prize of being "Top Elf" (?!?!?!?) (I just assumed it was a Top Chef parody myself)

Staging Christmas (Lifetime): The premiere of a new Lifetime Christmas movie tonight is this with "Lori is intrigued when a wealthy widow named Everett asks her to stage his home for the holidays to cheer up his daughter" Starring Soleil Moon Frye (Forever Punky Brewster!!!), George Stults (Not the guy from Enslisted or The Finder but his brother) and Jaleel White (Forever Urkel!!!)

Christmas In Evergreen (Hallmark): Not to be outdone but Hallmark Channel has its own movie premiering tonight with "A skeptical writer shows up in the titular town to get the scoop on the town's famed passion for Christmas during a search for a lost time capsule."  (Famed passion for Christmas?!?!?!?)  (Oy)  Starring Ashley Williams (Nice), Jill Wagner, Maggie Lawson, and Patti McCormick.

8:30

Fresh Off the Boat (ABC): Louis starts to fantasize about passing The Cattleman's Ranch off to Eddie but is worried about Eddie's menu choice ideas; Jessica is still struggling to get on board with Emery's new acting hobby; Louis scores a spot on Who Wants To Be A Millionaire? (I feel like that should be the A plot right there!) (I wonder if they can get Regis to guest star--i mean its not like they have to worry about him looking 20 years older right? Regis pretty much looks the same now as he did in 1999/2000 right?)

Just Roll With It (Disney): Owen has to decide whether to cancel a fundraising event he had planned for the school after several of the high value donors back out, but is reluctant to admit failure because of his reputation. (This is the plot for a Disney Channel sitcom???)

9:00

Hawaii 5-0 (CBS): This rerun from December of '18 concerns Joe White (Terry O'Quinn) being attacked by assassins who are on a revenge kick from an old SEAL mission so he and McGarrett hightail it to Montana to find the man responsible for putting out the contract on Joe.  (This episode btw ends with um Joe um well...things don't end happily) (Black Friday Indeed!)

20/20 (ABC): 30 years after learning she was switched at birth, Kimberly Mays talks about her tough childhood and life since then.

Penn and Teller: Fool Us (The CW): Penn and Teller have a holiday themed episode in this new episode of their usual summer schedule filler show.  (I was genuinely surprised to see that it was listed as new rather than a random rerun thrown on to keep from having to run a rerun of Dynasty)

Great Performances (PBS): Kinky Boots : The Musical gets the broadcast treatment form tonight. My sister saw it when it was on, she liked it quite a bit. (My brother in law much, much less so, but he's not a theater guy to put it mildly)  Billy Porter of course won a Tony award for his performance here.

Ancient Aliens (History): Examining some of the thousands of potentially habitable exoplanets discovered over the course of the last 25 years. Could some of them be home to intelligent extraterrestrial life? (I don't know man....)

Gabby Duran and the Unsittibles (Disney): When she discovers that Swift is still on Earth, she tries to get him back to being assigned to the planet because the alien's replacement  is a nightmare to work for. (I love how this plot synopsis just assumes you watch the show because otherwise that synopsis only kinda/sorta makes sense??? Of course i only know about the show cause i capsule it here every week even tho i've never actually seen it, but still its new and its on Friday nights!)

Diners, Drive-Ins, and Dives (Food): Top Pick Tonight Celebrates Its 31st Season Somehow (I say somehow because its literally new every single week--so when's the off-season for it then???) Tonight's episode is a special one because we have celebs taking host Guy Fieri to some of their favorite spots--we have Kansas City Chiefs' Head Coach taking Guy to a place that actually serves pigskin. (I get it!) and we have Sammy Hagar taking Guy to his favorite burger place in Waltham Mass where they serve pumpkin fried french toast; and we have Chef Ken Oringer taking Guy to eat his favorite lobster roll. (shrugs--i don't know, what else was i gonna make Top Pick??? Frosty???)

Gold Rush (Discovery): Rick must race to get Monster Red running again after losing his only way to mine gold. (Oh Z'No!!!)

9:30

Green Acres (MeTV): Someone is leaving a basket on the Douglasses' porch while Oliver is out of town.  (That somebody??? You guessed it--Frank Stallone!)

10:00

Blue Bloods (CBS):  In this rerun from last year--Jamie clashes with Eddie and her new partner when they feel they have to intervene in a dispute at a convenience store; Danny and Baez investigate the death of a college freshman and suspect foul play; and a sergeant accuses the dept of reverse racism. (Reverse Racism??? Is that like Reverse Vampires??? Reverse Vampires??? AHHHHH!!!)(You guys remember the Rob Schneider movie "The Animal?" There was a guy in that who went on about reverse racism which thinking back on it was kind of a weird thing to throw around in a very silly movie like The Animal)

Van Helsing (Syfy): Violet is captured by a sadistic ringmaster and must battle her way of his gladiator arenas. (Oy--this sounds bad--i say this as someone who follows the show too)

In Search Of (History): To find out when the world will end, researches search for answers in 2 ancient civilizations that mysteriously vanished and they also explore Nostadamus' doomsday prophecy.  (Awwww....i kinda feel like the end of the world should be a surprise, I mean i don't wanna have to make plans--but that's just me)

Ghost Nation (Travel): Investigating a property in McMinnville Tennessee. (shrugs)

Write Before Christmas (Hallmark): I'm only covering this cause i noticed the title--"Sending Christmas cards to the 5 people who greatly impacted her life" Starring Torey DeVito, Chad Michael Murray, and Lolia Davidovitch (?!?!?!?!?!?)

11:00

Room 104 (HBO): This well liked anthology series comes to an end for this current season with an episode about "While on a layover from collecting a rare botanical specimen, a scientists wakes to find herself in a lush rapidly growing jungle" Directed by Mel Eslyn (who's known primarily for producing--she produced "The One I Love" which was a weird movie that Elizabeth Moss did in 2014)

THAT'S IT FOR ME--HAVE A GREAT WEEKEND YOUS GUYS!!!!
