Welcome to the Weekend in Pop Culture! Let's examine what's coming out in theaters this weekend...
Wide
Doctor Sleep
Danny Torrance attempts to protect a child with similar shining powers from a cult. The movie is two and a half hours long, which must be what those twins meant by "come and play with us forever and ever."
Last Christmas
A cynical woman working in a Christmas shop falls in love with a mysterious man. The trailer says it's "inspired by the music of George Michael," so presumably he will be her father figure, he has had enough of crime.
Midway
The story of the Battle of Midway during World War II. Directed by Roland Emmerich, who hopefully has not pulled another "Stonewall" and made all the characters into bland white people.
Playing with Fire
Firefighters have to take care of rambunctious children. Hilarity ensues, or something.
Limited
Honey Boy
A troubled actor in rehab recalls the years he spent working as a child with his abusive father. Written by Shia LaBeouf, presumably not plagiarized from Daniel Clowes this time.
So what have you been up to in pop culture? And what do you plan to get up to soon?
