What's On Tonight (Tuesday): Raise Your Bow and Quiver As Arrow Returns For Its 8th & Final Season.

Hello All....This is What's On the ol' TV set for Tuesday October 15th 2019

8:00

NCIS (CBS): The team links a bizarre crime scene at Arlington National Cemetery to a string of attacks on homeless veterans; Vance makes McGee, Bishop, and Torres complete hours of evidence garage cleanup for withholding information. ("This'll teach you young punks to not snitch on the whereabouts of your long assumed dead former colleague! Why you just think about this, the next time you find yourselves in that very situation." "But Sir, the odds of us being in that very situation again are very, very slim, right? i mean they'd pretty much have to be!")

The Voice (NBC): The Battles Part 1---The coaches enlist various music industry professionals (Norami, Darius Rucker, Usher, and Will I Am) to prepare their various artists for the big show.

The Resident (FOX): Conrad doubts Devon's judgment when a patient who was pronounced dead suddenly revives; Cain and Nick butt heads over the care of a white supremacist; The Raptor and Mina uncover new info about Red Rock Medical. (The Resident should be one of the character's names honestly-i mean wouldn't this read better if it said "The Resident doubts a non Resident's judgment...")

The Conners (ABC): Desperate for more income, Becky starts bartending again at Casa Bonita causing concern from Dan due to Becky's recent alcoholism; Darlene finally reaches a decision regarding David and Ben; Harris' friend Odessa means new trouble for the group. (Group??? Also if new episodes of "Mom" have taught us anything, its that former alcoholics can totally work in a bar without facing temptation no problem--oh wait a minute now you mean that's totally unrealistic???)

The Flash (The CW): Faced with the news of his impending death,  Damnit Barry suffers a lack of resilience during a fight with fate; Cecile's career as a D.A. conflicts with her identity when she crosses paths with a villainous meta. ("a lack of resilience? a fight with fate?" This A plot seems like a barely thought up excuse to have one of the other characters give him a pep talk "Cheer Up Flash!")

Finding Your Roots with Dr. Henry Louis Gates (PBS): Melissa McCarthy and Eric Stonestreet trace their ancestry. (cue the Modern Family theme music)

8:30

Bless This Mess (ABC): Mike decides to get back into journalism by reinvigorating the town newspaper, but ends up causing a stir when he uncovers new town secrets and rivalries; A vindictive neighbor keeps Rio from playing "The Maiden of Bucksnort" (whatever that means??? Tune in tonight to find out whatever that means!!!)

9:00

FBI (CBS): After a shooting at a nightclub, it appears that the FBI may have ignored previous threats from a local white supremacist group; Kristen wrestles with her commitment to the bureau and her responsibility to her community. (White supremacy group again???? Man TV is all over this tonight!)

This Is Us (NBC): Kevin reflects on his past; Rebecca visits Randall at college; Beth's mom comes for a visit; and Kate and Tobey share new experiences with baby Jack. (I guess you couldn't mix and match the characters and plotlines this week---or could you??? Baby Jack reflects on his past; Kate and Tobey visit Randall at college; Kevin shares new experiences with Beth's mom, and Rebecca comes for a visit. Challenge Accepted!)

Empire (FOX): A happy family occasion brings the Lyons Family back together but no one is able to agree on anything; Lucious comes face to face with demons from his past; Cookie reaches a breaking point; and Andre encourages Tiana to smooth things over with everyone. (Wait, wait, wait--a happy occasion? On Empire??? no wonder no one can agree on anything, no one on the show knows how to handle good news)

Mixed-ish (ABC): When Rainbow is tasked with a school assignment that requires her to trace her roots, she learns that history is more complicated to trace on her mom's side than on her dad's side. (No Fooling--she should enlist that Henry Louis Gates guy--to the PBS offices we go!!!)

Arrow (The CW): This long running action show (Indeed the show that essentially kicked off the modern superhero show that defines the network now) comes in for a landing with tonight's final season premiere that finds "Oliver returning to Starling City while trying to decipher the Monitor's mission; he encounters familiar faces from the past; Mia and William's team clash with a new foe in the future." (They're STILL doing the split narrative with the present side by side with the future thing??? Didn't we all decide as viewers that that didn't really work last season? Was that just me???)

Retro News Now (PBS): History of Presidents vs. the free press; origins of vaccine fears; free agency; wild horses; the non apology apology. (I'm still trying to deal with the fact that this isn't a tv version of the twitter account we all know and love over here)

The Purge (USA) (also being shown on SYFY): This tv adaptation of the movie franchise returns for its 2nd season tonight, (although i can't imagine it featuring much overlap with the show's first season as a lot of the people on it were killed off if i remember right) "4 interconnected characters navigate the aftermath of The Purge over the ensuing year" (sooo that's not very descriptive) This time around the series is staring Derek "Antwone Fisher" Luke, Max "Big burly guy from multiple shows" Martini, Connor "Trig from Enterprise" Trineer, and Rochelle "remember Mistresses?" Aytes. )

Chopped (FOOD): The preliminary battle finds the dessert chefs facing off for the 50,000 dollar prize. (But what are they cooking in order to win that money tho???)

Life Below Zero (Nat Geo): Weathering the Storm

Bearing Sea Gold (Discovery): Stormy conditions force the miners to rethink their motivations; Shawn channels his inner MacGyver; Vern is confronted with a life or death situation. (I'm starting to think this show is exactly like The Deadliest Catch just with Gold instead of fish--but i'm also going completely from episode descriptions here in making this comparison)

9:30

Black-ish (ABC): Jack gets cut from the basketball team and it causes a family discussion about him being too short for his age; Dre is worried for Jack's future while Bow feels that jack will overcome his adversity and be stronger for it. (Adversity? Being short? This requires the very special episode treatment over here???? I was always short for my age--i'm still short for my age actually--last thing i would've wanted as a kid was a tv show rubbing it in my face!)

Green Acres (MeTV): Lisa gets a blue feather in the mail and recognizes it as a token of a powerful curse. (Ah yes, the curse of the blue feather....i don't know either, i'm just trying to fit in to Hooterville over here)

10:00

NCIS New Orleans (CBS): The team uncovers a sinister plot by a private prison that has been contracted by the government to house undocumented immigrants; The team is unsure what to do in exposing it  (I would assume since they too work for the government???); LaSalle and Sebastian travel to Alabama to search for LaSalle's missing brother. (The show tackled LaSalle's brother back in i think season 2 which makes this a bit of a retreaded storyline here)

New Amsterdam (NBC): When Iggy and Kapoor discover a patient might be suffering from lead poisoning, they are forced to take on the city; Max's unsolicited attempts to help a patient backfire badly. (Ohh New Amsterdam, taking on the city, trying to help a patient who doesn't want your help, i swear you've....you've become much too much!)

Emergence (ABC): After learning more about Piper's origins, Jo struggles with the decision to keep sheltering her; Benny enlists a friend to hack Kindred's secret files; Chris clashes with a headstrong informant he is assigned to protect. (I will be truly surprised if Jo just up and hands Piper over to the people trying to get a hold of her but then again, they could do an episode where Jo then tries to get her back which i imagine would eat up another episode or so right?)

Mayans M.C. (FX): EZ and The MC try to fight fire with fire and are careful to not be burned in the process. (nods) ("When a fire starts to burn, there's a lesson you must learn....something, something, then you'll see, you'll avoid catastrophe!" "D'oh!") (Episode runs until 11:00 tonight for once!)

Frontline (PBS): The 30 year grievance that transformed The Supreme Court and turned confirmations into partisan conflicts---This is a rerun from May by the way...but i'm listing it anyways cause maybe some people will wanna watch it.

Treadstone (USA) (also being shown on SYFY): This new "Borne Identity" related series makes its weekly debut tonight with "The Cicada Protocol" (nice title!)  Superhuman assassins created during a covert op are reactivated to resume their deadly missions for the CIA for some reason. (For some reason?!?!?!?)

Most Terrifying Places (Travel): Long dead prisoners prowl an old English jail; a decommissioned warship is haunted by the victims of a grizzly tragedy; sinister spirits roam the upper floor of a historic building. (why do people wanna go and take a camera to these places again???)

Life Below Zero (Nat Geo); In the second ep of tonight, "Go Fish" Fishing is the lifeblood of the Alaskan Inuit. (Fishing is the lifeblood???)

Finding Escobar's Millions (Discovery): Jerry and Chris investigate a property owned by Escobar's cousin Rob and hit a place where millions worth of diamonds and jewels are said to be buried. (shrugs--Pablo Escobar's cousin Roberto Escobar--well at least he's not named Jorge Escobar??? Juan Raul Escobar)

HAVE A GOOD TUESDAYS GANG---ALSO HEY WHAT'S THE DEAL WITH TUESDAY GUYS??? WHY DO THEY CALL IT TUESDAYS??? WHY NOT BLUESDAY? OR GLUESDAY? OR ZOOSDAY? YOU KNOW HOW THEY DO!!!!
