Jeopardy! recap for Tue., Oct. 22

Please welcome today's contestants:

- Andre, a PhD student from South Carolina, played hockey before a Capitals game;
- Martha, an attorney from North Carolina, got homes for needy cows; and
- Ryan, a TV executive from California, created his own major in popular culture. Ryan is a one-day champ with winnings of $9,199.

Andre and Martha both missed their DD chances in DJ, resulting in modest but close scores going into FJ with Andre at $10,600, Martha with $9,700 and champ Ryan at $8,000.

DD1, $800 - A TREE GROWS IN BOOK LAND - "It was a right motley company that gathered about the noble greenwood tree in Sherwood's depths" in an 1883 tale of this hero  (Andre won the table limit of $1,000.)

DD2, $1,600 - MOVING THE SAINTS - According to tradition, St. Mark's remains were stolen from Alexandria, taken to this European city, lost & rediscovered (Andre lost $3,400 from his leading total of $12,000.)

DD3, $800 - CLASSICAL MUSIC - This piece by Tchaikovsky depicts Napoleon's retreat from Moscow (Martha lost $3,500 from her score of $10,800.)

FJ - FEMALE MUSIC SUPERSTARS - With more than 30 top 10 albums since 1963, this singer-actress ranks no. 1 among the Billboard 200's greatest women artists of all time

Only one player was correct on FJ, with Martha adding $6,700 to win with $16,400.

Triple Stumper of the day: No one guessed the little metal piece that marksmen "draw" when lining up a target is a bead.

One more thing: If you're a fan of the word "comma", you'll love this episode, as they said it at least 20 times.

Correct Qs:
DD1 - Who is Robin Hood?
DD2 - What is Venice?
DD3 - What is "The 1812 Overture"?
FJ - Who is Barbra Streisand?
