Hey there...The new fall season is Almost Here! (ALMOST HERE! ALMOST HERE! ALMOST HERE!)
Here is what is streaming starting later tonight:
Netflix has the 2nd half of the episodes ordered of Matt Groening's animated series "Disenchanted" starring Abbi Jacobson and Eric Andre. (I believe that like the first half's order, it will consist of ten episodes) I remember there being some hype for when it first premiered but havn't heard a peep about it since then--is it still a thing that people like? Did people like it? Would I a "never say die Simpsons fan" still after these years like it?
Netflix also has "Between Two Ferns: The Movie" which i cannot believe has become a movie seeing as how it was only ever meant to be a 5 to 10 minute mock interview show where Zach Galifinakis played an awkward interviewer of various celebs...but now he's apparently taking to the open roads in search of new guests to awkwardly interview. (To me it sounds a little like when Martin Short made that Jiminy Glick movie--which for the record i thought was pretty darn funny but most other people seemed to disagree, but it also featured Short playing David Lynch at one point which i thought was hilarious (and Lynch actually seemed to find it funny as well surprisingly.)
Among other odds and ends also making their way to Netflix tonight includes a new docu series about Bill Gates called simply "Inside Bill's Brain--Decoding Bill Gates" (shrugs) and a Korean movie called "Vagabond" which a stunt man trying to find out the truth behind the mysterious plane crash that resulted in the death of his nephew.
On Tuesday night---Netflix also has the premiere of the 3rd season of Australian zombie show Glitch...I'm mentioning that here because the odds are very good that i'll forget to list it then given the onslaught of returning new stuff next week. (why don't they just make it easier and premiere it on a Friday you ask? I don't know!) I actually saw the first couple episodes of Glitch at some point in the past couple of months and found it moderately enjoyable tho so i wanted to highlight it while i remembered to.
On Broadcast and Cable--there's seriously, seriously, seriously, not much (once again) but hopefully this'll be the last time for a good couple of months where there's a serious lack of stuff on the broadcast nets.
Hawaii 5-0 (CBS): Its a rerun of last May's season finale where the 5-0 task force must stop evil murderous computer hacker played by Joey Lawrence from wrecking havoc all over the state. (Awww--you see in last week's episode we thought he was a reformed bad guy working with the team to stop a big threat but it turns out that it was all a ruse, or a diversion to effect his own escape plan and well 5-0 does not like being played for suckers)
American Housewife (ABC): In a rerun of last May's season finale--Katie and Greg chaperone a school dance where they're various kids all have moments involving their own significant others. I remember it being a cute way to end the season.
That's followed at 8:30 by Fresh Off the Boat with a rerun of its own previous season finale involving Eddie causing an international incident while overseas, and the rest of the family missing him with the exception of Jessica who apparently feels that not having her oldest son around now means she can have the perfect family she always dreamed of having. (She's compensating) This was clearly meant to be a series finale because the ending puts a very nice cap on the series as a whole, that now has to be ignored because it was unexpectedly renewed for another season! (HA!)
Battlebots (Discovery): More Fightin' Robots Fightin' One Another.
9:00
Magnum PI (CBS): In a rerun of last May's season finale, Magnum's ex girlfriend (played by Jordana Brewster) is kidnapped and held for ransom and Magnum must find a way to free her despite her being kind of evil and in league with this group of bad guys who wanted to smuggle these artifacts from overseas which apparently resulted in him, Rick, and TC being captured as pow's while serving in the military overseas. (NCIS Magnum!)
Great Performances (PBS): This hour long special finds Vivaldi as performed throughout concert halls in varying parts of Italy.
Ghost Brothers: Haunted Houseguests (Travel)
Diners, Dives, and Drive-Ins (Food): The synopsis simply said highlights from a visit to the Jersey Shore.
Gomer Pyle (MeTV): Relive the series all over again in a rerun of the series pilot! How considerate of MeTV to start the run of the show over again just as the new tv season starts back up again on Monday and I bid a fond farewell to covering episodes of Gomer as part of my daily listings. (I think i listed just about every one of them over the course of the summer too!) Gomer Pyle even managed to be my top pick on one of the now forever gone WOT's over at the disqus channel we just migrated from. To which i make a tip of the hat to Gomer for giving me some much needed levity over the summer. (And it let me fill up some space here as well on some very empty summer nights when not a whole heck of a lot was on!)
That is followed as usual at 9:30 by Green Acres with "Eb persuades Oliver to put him thru a mail ordered barber school course" (that sounds like a sound business idea)
10:00
Blue Bloods (CBS): In a rerun of last May's season finale, Jamie and Eddie finally get married but not before Danny and Baez work a case, and not before Frank clashes with someone, and really that's all secondary to the wedding that finally takes place at the end of the episode. It ends with Frank walking Eddie down the aisle because she made a point to not invite her dad who's in jail.
Killjoys (Syfy): This breezy summer sci-fi series which premiered in the summer of 2015 alongside the better, definitely more ambitious show "Dark Matter" comes to a close tonight. (Great now Aaron Ashmore and Luke MacFarlane need to find work again! Hannah John-Kamen will be just fine i'm sure) The plot is "Dutch uses Khylen as bait for The Lady and finds herself in the middle of a final, epic, showdown" (I feel like they're being rather optimistic in applying the term epic here but we shall see i guess) I actually liked it quite a bit when it first started, thought it was pretty fun and fast paced, but the acerbic fun of the show;s first couple of seasons had been somewhat drained away in its last couple of seasons with its ongoing stop the unstopptable green blooded bad guys plotline led by an amorphous queen who can take the duplicate shape of the show's leading lady--last season was kind of a slog, and this one hasn't been that much better honestly although they've had moments of fun here and there. (Space Jail for example) CANADIAN SYFY!!!!
Voces (PBS): Documentary series on PBS returns tonight with a one hour special taking a look at "Pouvenir, Texas" in the span 1910-1920 where there were a number of civilian casualties eventually resulting in the execution of 18 Mexican civilians in 1918. (huh)
Hogan's Heroes (MeTV): Hogan must try and deliver an important radio part to the Resistance while under surveillance.
HAVE A GOOD WEEKEND YOUS GUYS!!!
