Jeopardy! recap for Wed., Sept. 18

Let's meet today's contestants:

- Jon, a tutor from New York, has an equal partnership with his tubby tabby;
- Barbara, a retired air traffic controller from Florida, met Chuck Yeager; and
- Jason, a math teacher from New Mexico, likes escape rooms and even made one. Jason is a 13-day champ with winnings of $361,943.

Jason started slowly but then dominated DJ, scoring on both DDs in the round and running away with it at $33,800 vs. $8,600 for Barbara and $7,800 for Jon.

DD1, $1,000 - SCIENCE - During a total solar eclipse, you can glimpse this "colorful" layer of the Sun just above the photosphere (Jason said "Let's give $1,000 back" and did exactly that when he missed.)

DD2, $1,200 - CLASSIC METAL BANDS - "We're Not Gonna Take It" by this Dee Snider band has some musical roots in "O Come All Ye Faithful" (Jason won $7,600 on a true DD.)

DD3, $2,000 - CAREER HIGHLIGHTS - Governor, Secretary of Energy; "Dancing with the Stars" contestant (Jason won $3,000 from his score of $23,200.)

FJ - THE 1940s - This nickname for a history-changing weapon of 1945 came from a character in "The Maltese Falcon"

Jason and Barbara were correct on FJ. Jason added $3,800 to win with $37,600 for a 14-day total of $399,543.

Triple Stumper of the day: No one guessed that when you tell your dog "siƩntate!", it means "sit!".

This day in Trebekistan: At the end Alex asked about Jason, "Is he gonna go over $400,000 tomorrow?". Since the worst one can do is win $1,000, I can say with some certainty that he will break $400K as long as he shows up.

Correct Qs:
DD1 - What is chromosphere?
DD2 - Who is Twisted Sister?
DD3 - What is Rick Perry?
FJ - What is Fat Man?
