Shark! Here's what's on television for tonight, Sunday, July 26!
Our Top Pick tonight is the series premiere of President Curtis (Adult Swim, 11:30 p.m. / HBO Max, Monday). It took 13 years, but there's finally a full fledged Rick and Morty spinoff -- that terrible anime doesn't count. This show follows the adventures of President Curtis (Keith David) as he deals with conflicts Rick avoids. Joining him are his chief of staff (Stephanie Beatriz) and a special agent (Jim Rash). Unlike the parent show, this one will be next-day on HBO Max.
Elsewhere, Maggie and Negan are still Dead, the Westies are still fighting over cocaine, sharks are hunted by K-Pop as Shark Week 2026 begins, the Great Food Truck Race is revved up again, John Oliver is back from hiatus, and Anderson Cooper talks to Ben Sasse.

Get over here! Here's what's on television for tonight, Saturday, July 25!
Our Top Pick tonight is Avatar Aang: The Last Airbender (Paramount+, 3 a.m.). This follow-up movie to the much beloved TV show takes place 13 years after the series wrapped and the peace that's been found is threatened. Not much of the original voice actors return, and this movie skipped a planned (and delayed) theatrical release. But it did a mini-theatrical run for Oscar qualification. Reviews have been quite positive.
Elsewhere, the WNBA brings out its all-stars, Mistletoe is all over, a Girl is in a Coffin, the Super gang plays games, and One Piece needs an antidote.

What's On Tonight (Friday): Nirvanna the Band the Show the Movie the Blogpost

Today's Top Pick is the streaming premiere of Nirvanna the Band the Show the Movie. I know next to nothing about the film or the series that spawned it, but it seems to have garnered near universal acclaim from those who saw it (95% Fresh). I have Hulu and I have the next week off so I will be checking it out.
It's a good day for those waiting for theatrical releases to make their streaming premieres. In addition to Nirvanna, we also have Mortal Kombat II and Pressure. I'm not sure there are two films that could be more different beyond the need to suspend belief. In one you have a multi-dimensional super-powered fighting tournament run by gods and in the other you have Brendan Frasier playing Eisenhower.
Frasier also supplies one of the voices for the Tubi original Breaking Bear. It's an animated comedy series about three bears (Frasier, Sarah Michelle Gellar and Josh Gad) who start cooking meth in order to raise money to save their forest. The trailer didn't do much for me (a lot of gross out sex jokes that reminded me of the recent Netflix series Mating Season) but it's got a weirdly stacked voice cast.
Also, Apple has The Dink, a sports comedy about an arrogant professional tennis player (Jake Johnson) who turns to Pickleball while recovering from an injury. The trailer looks funny and somehow they managed to get Ed Harris to play Johnson's overbearing father. I might watch just because the director is also helming the Spaceballs sequel.

I'm probably at a Lucero concert at Turner Hall. I'm mod with power again so no problem posting this ahead. Other than it's seven in the morning and Trump hasn't woken up from his likely pointless rant last night. Is he still SCREAMING about 100% tariffs? He needs to be dragged to Wharton, forced to pay attention, and take a test where the answers aren't man woman camera TV.

This drama, which comes from the Tyler Perry TV factory, stars Top Model winner Eva Marcille as the businesswoman who runs Atlanta's lucrative male exotic nightclub industry. But she wants more. Mo' exotic men, mo' problems. The show is in its fifth and final season and will approach 80 episodes when it concludes.
